Monday is the deadline for the governor to sign or veto bills. Two priority bills our industry is opposed to have yet to be addressed, AB 98 and SB 1103.

AB 98 (Carrillo; D-Palmdale and Reyes; D-San Bernardino) would introduce restrictive mandates on warehouses. CBPA has played a key role in the massive opposition to this bill from the business community along with local government groups including the League of California Cities and California State Association of Counties, California Association for Local Economic Development, and hundreds of individual companies and local elected officials. CBPA was featured in a recent article from The Center Square highlighting our industry's opposition to AB 2364 (Rivas; D-Los Angeles), a bill requiring companies that hire janitors to make sure janitors take sexual assault training every other year, pay $200 per participant for sessions with under 10 janitors present, and $80 for sessions with 10 or more janitors.

The bill was opposed by our industry as the collective bargaining process has already provided a robust, evidence-based framework for addressing workload issues. The bill passed the legislature and was recently signed by Governor Newsom.

CBPA member Tejon Ranch was featured in a recent Newsweek spotlight Green California Town Planned to Combat Global Warming. The article highlights Centennial, Tejon Ranch's planned community located in the northwestern part of Los Angeles County. Centennial aims to be an environmentally friendly town that addresses the pressing issue of climate change by integrating green technologies and sustainable urban planning from the ground up.
