CBPA President & CEO Matthew Hargrove spoke with ABC 7 Chicago about the impacts of Measure ULA, the real estate transfer tax in Los Angeles, as a Chicago ballot measure proposes a similar referendum.
Measure ULA raised the transfer tax on properties over $5 million in Los Angeles, promising to raise $800 million in revenue for homelessness. However, the new tax failed to deliver such revenues and instead crippled the commercial real estate market.
The Chicago referendum will appear on the March 19th election ballot.
