This legislative year presented significant challenges to our industry and the business community as a whole. Despite leading a strong opposition coalition, new laws signed include AB 98, introducing restrictions on warehouse development, and SB 1103, introducing restrictions on commercial leases.
However, there were significant wins, including the passage of industry-sponsored AB 2904, which extends the notice period for zoning changes, and the Governor’s veto of AB 3129, which avoided burdensome regulations on private equity in health care. Additionally, CBPA helped secure the passage of AB 2243, which will build upon the Affordable Housing and High Road Jobs Act and accelerate development.
This year, CBPA tracked over 440 bills and took action on over 200. You can read up on the outcomes of priority legislation here.
