Legislature Introduces 2,350 New Bills

Last Friday marked the deadline for lawmakers to file bills for the 2025 session. With a new rule in place to limit the number of proposals, legislators introduced a total of 2,350 bills—1,500 in the Assembly and 850 in the Senate.

CBPA Advocates For Prop 36 Funding For Drug And Mental Health Treatment

CBPA continues to play a key role in the implementation of Proposition 36, the landmark retail theft/criminal justice reform measure passed overwhelmingly by voters last November. Now that the measure has passed, it’s critical for the state to provide funding to ensure its success.


Our Senior Director of Government Relations Skyler Wonnacott testified in a Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Subcommittee on Tuesday in support of funding the drug and mental health treatment component of the measure. CBPA remains committed to advocating for the necessary resources and policies to ensure the successful implementation of Prop 36, recognizing the significant impact that retail theft has on our industry and members.
