Legislation Spotlight: AB 2243 - Adaptive Reuse Incentives

CBPA is advocating for AB 2243 (Wicks; D-Oakland), which would expand and modify provisions of the Affordable Housing and High Road Jobs Act of 2022. The legislation focuses on allowing residential development on commercial sites and provides certain incentives encouraging adaptive reuse. The bill also expands the definition of retail sites that can qualify.

AB 2243 has passed through the Assembly and is currently in the Senate Appropriations Committee. The bill joins three other CBPA supported adaptive reuse bills on our top ten priority bill list. Three out of four of these bills remain in play while one of them failed to make it out of its first house.

CBPA Celebrates California Leadership at BOMA 2024

CBPA’s President and CEO Matthew Hargrove and Director of Communications and Marketing Will Hixson represented BOMA California at the 2024 BOMA International Conference and Expo in Philadelphia this week. California made a strong impression, with Manny Moreno taking the helm as chair of BOMA International. Glenn Good, BOMA California’s Vice President, spearheaded the BOMA Pacific Southwest Regional meeting and was announced as an incoming BOMA International board member. Julie Taylor from BOMA Oakland/East Bay led impactful sessions as the Chair of the BAE Council.

The event also marked a significant transition as attendees bid farewell to BOMA International’s President Henry Chamberlain and warmly welcomed his successor, Mary Lue Peck.

Kudos to BOMA Greater Los Angeles, BOMA Oakland/East Bay, and BOMA San Francisco for clinching TOBY Awards!
