Devotional Thought By Mr. Roloff- 1 Kings 19: 11-14
|
“The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?" (1 Kings 19: 11-14)
The world today seems to be shouting answers to us from every direction. We often want answers like those they are shouting, spectacular and just what we want. Elijah probably wanted the answers to come with the destructive power of the wind, earthquake or fire, but God wasn’t in them. This is true of so many of the answers being shouted out to us by the world around us. But; what are we doing here? ( as part of the GPL family) I pray that just as Elijah did, we are taking the opportunity to listen to the gentle whisper of our loving God and Savior, where we find the one true answer.

The cast of this year’s one act play, Paper or Plastic?, written by Werner Trieschmann, traveled to Aberdeen on Tuesday to perform in the One Act Regions competition. While we will not be participating at the State competition, the cast performed exceptionally well and got some good laughs from the audience. Congrats to actors Norah Kratz and Parker Walkins, who received recognition as excellent performers.
