Weekly Update #4
September 23, 2022
Devotional Thought By Mr. Roloff - Mark 12:41-43
Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. (Mark 12: 41-43)

Jesus wasn’t bad at math when he talked about the offerings he and the disciples had just witnessed. No; Jesus understood what it meant to give from the heart out of love! Money can have very different levels of importance to different people. A $50 dollar bill is not all that important to a millionaire but a $1 dollar bill in the hands of a small child in a candy store; we better look out! So what is Christ talking about in this lesson? What is the value? Christ teaches us what being Courageous in Christ means when it comes to our Christian giving. It is not about the amount but rather about the heart. Our opportunities to worship God with our gifts are about just that, a heart filled with love for Christ willing to worship him with our gifts. This is such a wonderful blessing that God allows us to have! We get to show our love for him by worshiping him with our gifts.
