The Amana Stories Project is a space for our Amana community to share transformative narratives, stories, and perspectives around identity, culture, and race that transform the reader's understanding of community. During Hispanic Heritage Month, this page will reflect stories from Amana staff, parents, students, board members, and community partners embodying the richness and depth of the Hispanic/Latino experience. Sharing our stories (and opening ourselves up to understanding other's stories) is an opportunity to build bonds and connect with each other on a very human level.
We welcome you all to share your stories using the link below and visit the page in the coming weeks to view the diverse and meaningful stories shared.
If you are interested in sharing a story/experience, you can contact Valeria Hernandez at vhernandez@amanaacademy.org.

Important Updates
MAP Growth Assessments (2nd, 4th, and 7th):
- During the weeks of October 4th and October 11th, students in 2nd, 4th, and 7th grades will be participating in MAP Growth Assessments in ELA and Math.
- MAP, or the Measure of Academic Progress, is a computerized adaptive test that helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth. MAP is a nationally normed assessment and will indicate students’ strengths and areas for improvement in specific areas.
-
For the 2021-22 school year, MAP results will also be used as an eligibility indicator for TAG screening. For more information, please contact Ms. Nicole Woodard at nwoodard@amanaacademy.org.
YouScience Profile (8th):
- At Amana Academy, we are dedicated to preparing all students for high academic achievement beyond what they think is possible. The excitement lies in discovering each student’s unique set of talents and understanding how those talents will drive high school, college majors, career, and even life choices. During the weeks of October 4th through October 15th, all 8th-grade students will participate in the YouScience Profile Assessment during their STEM Connection class.
