Concord Festival of Authors | |
For 32 years, the Concord Festival of Authors has celebrated the written and spoken word throughout the town of historic Concord, Massachusetts. Every October, the Concord Festival of Authors collaboratively honors the narrative arts by featuring dozens of literary and performative programs, the majority of which are free to the public.
The 2024 Concord Festival of Authors will take place from October 17 - 30 in locations around Concord. The annual Concord Festival of Authors is managed and sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library with generous support from the Concord Free Public Library Corporation and assistance from the Library staff.

Leslie Riedel Award for Excellence in Children’s Literature: Lincoln Peirce | |
The 2024 Leslie Riedel Award for Excellence in Children’s Literature will honor and present cartoonist and animator Lincoln Peirce on Sunday, October 27 at 3:00 p.m. in the Goodwin Forum, Main Library.
The lecture series was created in memory of Leslie Riedel by her family and friends so that young people could meet some of their favorite authors.
Past speakers of the series include children's authors/illustrators David Macaulay, Chris Van Allsburg, Jerry Pinkney, Lois Lowry, Tomie dePaola, Grace Lin, Katherine Paterson, Kate DiCamillo, Robert Sabuda, Rajani LaRocca and Chris Van Dusen.
This event is part of the Concord Festival of Authors.
Registration for the Leslie Riedel Award event starts on October 1.

The 2024 Miller Award Presents Jacqueline Jones | |
The Friends of the Concord Free Public Library will honor and present the 2024 Ruth Ratner Miller Award to Jacqueline Jones, winner of the 2024 Pulitzer Prize in History, on Saturday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Goodwin Forum, Main Library.
Established in 1998, the Miller Award is given each year in memory of Ruth Ratner Miller by her four children to honor the life of their mother, Ruth, who believed passionately that understanding history was not merely desirable but a civic and religious duty. Previous recipients of the award include Annette Gordon-Reed, Nathaniel Philbrick, David Hackett Fischer, Jill Lepore, Heather Cox Richardson and Sean Wilentz, among other esteemed historians.
This event is part of the Concord Festival of Authors.
