Weekly Updates

Head of School Great Day for Students  Many of our families take advantage of the grants distributed through Exceptional SC. This program has been a godsend to many families all over the state. However, the program has been limited in the amount of money it can raise for grants. Yesterday several of us attended and spoke at a sub-committee meeting of the House Ways and Means Committee. Parents from across the state came and told their stories. Four parents from Trident Academy spoke as well. By the end of the hearing, it was clear that those legislators in attendance were moved to action. An amendment was attached to raise the cap from $12 million to $20 million! IF this makes it all the way through the legislative process with the Senate concurring, it is a game changer for Special Needs children across the state. And certainly a game changer for Trident Academy families! Please know that your voices matter! I will keep you informed as we move through this process. I am sure there will be other opportunities for us to speak and it will be important to do so.  Have a wonderful weekend! Betsy

PE SCHEDULES Students may dress down in a Trident t-shirt and shorts of appropriate length on the days they are scheduled for PE. If leggings are worn students MUST wear shorts over the leggings. We still have a few Trident t-shits available in random sizes. If interested in seeing what we still have available contact Amber. Shirts are $15. TRIDENT ACADEMY SAIS SURVEY Our survey has launched and there are just a few days left until it closes. If you haven’t responded yet, please do so! Your opinions and perceptions matter a great deal and we need to hear from you. If you have not received an email asking you to participate, please contact us directly at pbrown@tridentacademy.com and we will make sure you have a chance to participate. The survey should only take about ten minutes to complete and the deadline is  February 8, 2019.

Trident has one main fundraiser each year which helps to cover the difference between tuition and the full cost of educating each student. It is also important as we reach out to the community- both individuals and foundations, that we have full support from our own parent community. We're thrilled that we already have 100% faculty and staff support.  Thank you to those who have already given to the Annual Fund. Need Lunch Ideas? Many of our families have been using a local school lunch delivery service and LOVE it! Food For Thought -  www.foodforthoughtcharleston.com . Please consider supporting this service. We have to have a certain number participating for them to continue delivering. Thanks for considering!
