Relax & Recharge
Rest. I don’t know about you, but I feel like my life is getting faster, not slowing down. I know I’m tired. I know I can be irritable at times. I know I am slow.
Rest is essential for us. We not only crave it, but we need it to maintain healthy and productive lives. A quick Google search produces a plethora of reasons why rest is vital to a healthy lifestyle:
- Physical benefits include cardiovascular health, immune support, tissue repair and growth, and energy replenishment.
- Mental and cognitive benefits include memory consolidation, enhanced creativity, decision-making, and sustained focus.
- Social-emotional benefits include stress reduction, mood stability, and stronger relationships.
I don’t know about you, but I could use a boost in all of those areas listed above! My hope is that we will be able to take advantage of the upcoming holiday break and rest a bit. This will prove hard for me because I really don’t like to sit idle. However, I do want to support my immune system, enhance my creativity, and have stronger relationships. So, maybe I’ll curl up on the couch, read a book, and sip on some spice tea.
Sounds fairly restful to me!
