Dinovember?
Whew! We’ve made it through the time-change week fairly easily. Of course, the fall change on the first Sunday in November is easier than the spring change on the second Sunday in March; we gain an hour of sleep in the fall and lose an hour in the spring. (Fall Back /Spring Forward).
I started wondering about other things that occur in November each year and found a new tradition that I think our students, young and old, will like: Dinovember!
This tradition was invented in 2012 by a couple whose children continuously woke them up early in the mornings. Like December’s Elf on a Shelf, dinosaurs move around to various places in the house each night. When their children awake early, they search for the dinosaurs and play with them, not bothering sleeping parents. Brilliant!
Another tried and true tradition at Trident Academy includes our annual canned food drive, which is gearing up for another record-breaking year! Along with collecting cans each year, we use dress-down day funds to purchase a turkey and a ham for our high school students to deliver to Young Moms Together (formerly the Florence Crittenton Home) in downtown Charleston.
In addition, our lower and middle school students are gearing up for the annual Thanksgiving program scheduled for Tuesday, November 25. You will not want to miss this!
And, finally, Trident Academy students continue to go to class, learn new things, and work toward mastery!
Happy Dinovember!
Blessings,
Betsy
