The Covenant of Water
Abraham Verghese
Instant New York Times Bestseller | Oprah's Book Club Pick and Subject of a Six-Part Super Soul Podcast Series hosted by Oprah
"One of the best books I’ve read in my entire life. It’s epic. It’s transportive . . . It was unputdownable!"
—Oprah Winfrey
"Writing with compassion and insight, Verghese creates distinct characters in Dickensian profusion, and his language is striking; even graphic descriptions of medical procedures are beautifully wrought. Throughout, there are joy, courage, and devotion as well as tragedy; always there is water, the covenant that links all."

"Everyone dies, and yet it’s unendurable. There is so much love inside of us. How do we become worthy of it? And, then, where does it go? A worldwide crescendo of grief, sustained day after day, and only one tiny note of it is mine."
―Catherine Newman, Sandwich
