R. F. Kuag

Instant New York Times Bestseller

"Hard to put down, harder to forget."

—Stephen King, #1 New York Times bestselling author

"Kuag illustrates the pernicious and codependent relationship between the empowered and the oppressed and explores how one cannot exist without the other. Her magnificent novel uses satire to shine a light on systemic racial discrimination and the truth that often hides behind the twisted narratives constructed by those in power."

The Power of Shared Storytelling: Author Talk

Learn about and experience the power of shared storytelling through a memoir, More Than Merely Eyes Can See by Susan Carey.

"More than Merely Eyes Can See portrays the stark, real, and often heartbreaking humanity present in the unseen lives around us, lives that are small yet somehow bigger than we can ever imagine. The individual portraits presented show the world as it is and lives that are undeniably beautiful, frustrating, tragic, and, at times, funny. They open the mind and the heart to the simple idea that a meal, a conversation, and a radical acceptance of a human being, with all their individual strengths and flaws, can build community in ways more powerful than politics or slogans."

Marc Fitch, novelist and investigative reporter for CT Inside Investigator

Light refreshments will be provided. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. All proceeds will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of America.

"Every writer I know feels this way about someone else. Writing is such a solitary activity. You have no assurance that what you’re creating has any value, and any indication that you’re behind in the rat race sends you spiraling into the pits of despair. Keep your eyes on your own paper, they say. But that’s hard to do when everyone else’s papers are flapping constantly in your face."
