Digital Filmmaking


Intro to Digital Film Making is expanding into a multi-workshop series taught by industry professionals, this week featuring, Steve Adams, discussing writers, directors and actors on Monday, September 29.


About Steve Adams:

Award winning producer Steven Adams is a founding partner of Alta Global Media where he represents actors, writers, directors, and international media companies. He is actively developing film and television projects with his clients. He is a producer on the Netflix original adaptation of Roger Guenveur Smith's solo performance piece Rodney King, directed by Academy Award winner Spike Lee. Adams is an executive producer on such indies as Burning Shadows, Redemption Day, Zero and Stolen. Adams served for 4 years as a visual effects (VFX) executive producer with Paris-based VFX house film buffs. His credits there include Academy Award winners as James Cameron's Avatar, Ang Lee's Life of Pi, Thor, Green Lantern, Green Hornet, Stephen Sommers' Odd Thomas, and Tim Burton's Dark Shadows.

The Truth About Immigration


You're invited! Join us, Connecticut Public's Latino Initiative, SOMOS CT, and UConn Hartford, for a lunchtime author talk and book signing with Zeke Hernandez on Wednesday, October 1. Hernandez is a Wharton professor and author of The Truth About Immigration: Why Successful Societies Welcome Newcomers, Hernandez, a scholar in his field, brings clarity to one of the most misunderstood topics of our time.


The first 100 registrants and attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the book. The author will sign books after the talk concludes.

Once you receive all four stamps, return your guidebook to any of the participating libraries by Oct. 7. Contest runs from Sept. 2 to Sept. 30!

Use your CT library card at any library in the state. Travel by train and explore the libraries of the Hartford Line for a chance to win a library swag bag and to pick up other prizes along the way!


How to participate:

  1. Pick up a guidebook at one of four participating libraries for more information and to begin your journey at HPL's Downtown Library, Wallingford Public Library, Meriden Public Library, or Windsor Public Library
  2. Show your train tickets at each of the four participating libraries to receive a stamp and a small prize

September is Library Card Sign-up Month! This month only, visit any HPL location to sign up for a library card or renew your existing one to be entered in a raffle. The winner will receive a FREE iPad.


The winner will be selected at the end of the month.
