December 5, 2022
Dear William Paterson Faculty and Staff,
It was great to see so many of you at last week’s holiday reception at Hobart Manor, which was decorated in its traditional seasonal finery. Thanks to Maira Padula and everyone else in my office for helping to organize a great event, to Meredith Makkai, her IA colleagues, and student workers for making the Manor look so beautiful, and to everyone who attended the reception.
As we begin the final week of the Fall 2022 semester, I want to look ahead to the period between its close and when we will begin ramping up for the Spring 2023 semester. From December 12, 2022 to January 17, 2023, eligible staff can make arrangements with their supervisors to combine remote work days with their on-campus work, provided all offices have the necessary operational coverage at all times. As was communicated previously, the University will be closed from Saturday, December 24 through Monday, January 2, reopening on Tuesday, January 3.
As a reminder, the Spring semester begins on Monday, January 23, 2023. Vice Presidents and department heads will work with staff to determine the best arrangement for each operational area. Our goal is to take advantage of the time our students are away from campus to give employees greater flexibility over the holiday period while also ensuring that our important work continues.
Also as a reminder, these update emails will shift from weekly to every other Monday, beginning with the Spring semester. Next week’s email, on Monday, December 12, will be the last one of the year. As always, I will continue to communicate with the campus community outside of this regular schedule when circumstances warrant.
