Parent Crew, 

We have had a wonderful week. I just want to thank you personally for your patience with the logistics for Assessment day. Our teachers found this time very valuable. They were able to complete Next Step Guided Reading Assessment, a beginning of the year writing assessments and some grade levels were able to administer a math assessment. All of this information will be used to inform and adjust instruction as we move through the year, helping us better ensure that our students are able to achieve the state standards. If you have any questions about the assessments that were given and your child's performance, please feel free to reach out to your teacher. 

I would also like to express my thanks to you all as you support our fall fundraiser. It is amazing to have such wonderful community support for our school. I feel so privileged to be a part of our Pine Lane Crew!!! Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Important Information: Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) Universal Screening
As part of the Douglas County School District’s Universal Screening Process, ALL students in Grade 3 and Grade 6 will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT 7) the week of September 9 - 13, 2019. This assessment indicates the level and pattern of cognitive development of a student in comparison to grade and age mates. These general reasoning abilities, which start developing at birth and continue through early adulthood, are influenced by experiences gained both in and out of school.

Gifted Identification Referral Testing
If your child is in grades K, 1, 2, 4 or 5 AND you believe he/she needs evaluation for Gifted Identification and Services, you may refer your child for testing by initiating the Gifted Identification Process.  
NOTE Requesting this assessment automatically initiates the process to evaluate for Gifted Identification .  

Please request CogAT testing for your child by completing the Referral for Gifted Identification linked HERE.

Upcoming District Events
Dear Families and Students,

Grandparents’ Day is next month and in honor of that special day, I want to invite you to attend a unique event called “An Intergenerational Conversation.”

At the event, children and their grandparents will share ideas on how to make spending time together extra special. The event starts with a Keynote Speaker on the importance of intergenerational relationships, followed by a panel of local students talking about what they like to do or would like to do with their Grandparents. I know you’ll hear some great ideas and, perhaps, you can share some of your ideas too!

The event is free, and there will be light refreshments and cool door prizes.
