Dear William Paterson Faculty and Staff,

With the end of the semester fast approaching, many of you are planning your summer schedules, including vacation time. We all work hard throughout the academic year, and everyone should take advantage of their vacation time, especially over the summer, when things slow down to the extent they ever do on our busy campus. Our Monday-Thursday summer schedule and recent remote work options are also intended to provide more breaks and afford a measure of flexibility during the work week. Please keep in mind, however, that everyone’s schedule must be in accord with the operational needs of the University.

To ensure that this happens, supervisors may need to consider all summer vacation  and remote work requests simultaneously in order to coordinate and provide necessary coverage. So, I am encouraging supervisors to provide their teams with a reasonable deadline for submitting summer vacation and remote work requests and then communicate their resulting decisions as soon as possible so that people can finalize plans or make other arrangements, if necessary. Please remember as colleagues are taking well-earned vacations it may require you to work fully on-site for operational need. Operational need is determined by the vice president of the division.  As a reminder, concerning remote work, nothing is approved until the vice president of the division
signs off on the requests, as recommended by the supervisor. Thank you in advance for your patience as we work through this for the first time, which will require both understanding and cooperation.
This week’s WPWe are Proud – A big congratulations to Brandon Vallone, who on Saturday became the 2022 U.S. Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles National Champion! Brandon came out on top after reaching the finals as one of the four top college bowlers from across the country to compete in the men’s division at the Stardust Bowl in Addison, Illinois. What a great achievement for him and for WP bowling, which had a great season as a team, as well, under the leadership of Head Coach Greg Hatzisavvas and Assistant Coach Andrew Suscreba. Go Pioneers! You can catch a recording of the competition next week, when it is scheduled to be broadcast on Tuesday, May 3rd at 8:00 p.m. on CBS Sports.

Thank you all for your continued good work on behalf of our students. Have a great week.
Sincerely,

Richard J. Helldobler, Ph.D.
