Call to Action: Tell Lawmakers to Fully Eliminate the Florida-Only Business Rent Tax
Earlier this week, Governor Ron DeSantis released his constitutionally-required budget recommendations to the Florida Legislature. The “Focus on Fiscal Responsibility” budget for Fiscal Year 2025-26 totals $115.6 billion—$3 billion less than the current year’s budget – and includes the elimination of the Florida-only business rent tax over the next two years.
The budget outlines a one-percent reduction in 2026, followed by the elimination of the tax in 2027, ultimately eliminating a tax on local businesses that places Florida at a competitive disadvantage compared to every other state. This is money that local businesses could be spending to hire new employees, reinvest in their business, or invest in their communities. As Florida continues progress toward the Florida 2030 Blueprint goal of achieving the nation’s #1 business tax climate, eliminating the business rent tax is essential to that progress.
Please take a moment to contact your local lawmakers and urge them to fully eliminate this Florida-only tax that puts Florida local businesses at a competitive disadvantage. Contact your lawmaker here!
