Thank you being a part of our Wish Granting team! We appreciate what you do for our wish kids and families. Please consider stepping out of your comfort zone to take kids who speak a language other than English or who live outside of your county/borough. We truly appreciate it and will support you with tools and resources.

Wish Booster Opportunities:

These volunteers keep in touch with the family during the wish process and send periodic “wish boost” gifts to the child. They will also assist with communication for the wish, such as getting availability for the wish, reminders to fill out paperwork and other needs. 


Abdulrahma (Abdul) R is a 5-year-old boy diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Lives: in the Grand Concourse section of the Bronx with his parents, older sister and younger brother. Language: The family is verbal both Togo and English- Abdul speaks and understands English better. Wish to go to Disney World! Likes to play outside, watch TV and play funny games such as Operation. His favorite colors are blue, red and green and his favorite food are Happy Meals. Register for Abdul's wish on CERVIS



Rossy (Rosie) O is a 6-year-old diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Lives in Riverhead in Suffolk with her mom and sisters. Language Rossy’s mom also recently gave birth to a baby girl! Rossy is bilingual in English and Spanish while her parents are verbal in Spanish. Her wish is to go to Disney World! She is very excited to meet Minnie Mouse! She enjoys playing with dolls and Barbies. Rossy also enjoys dancing and entertaining her family. Armaan S is a 15-year-old young man diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Lives in New Hyde Park in Nassau with his parents, younger sibling and dog named Boogie! Language Armaan’s family is verbal in English while Armaan is non-verbal. He can express himself by pointing at objects and saying short sentences. He also uses a transport chair and stroller as he lost his ability to walk; however, he is receiving physical therapy with the goal to walk unaided. Wish to go to Disney World! Likes Daniel Tiger, Mickey and Minnie Mouse and looking at books. He also enjoys animals and going to the zoo, especially parakeets. Register for Armaan's wish on CERVIS

Wish Granting Opportunities:


These volunteers will complete the wish discovery interview and get to the heart of the child’s wish! They will assist in getting key information from the family, selecting wish boosts and sending them off on their wish. 


Moving forward, we will assign only 1 wish granting volunteer to conduct virtual wish discovery interviews as opposed to 2 volunteers. Stay tuned for changes to in person volunteer opportunities. Please reach out to Jessica with questions.


Queens:


Alex B is an 11-year-old boy diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure (ESRD). Lives Jamaica with his parents and sister. His family is from Guyana and has stayed in the U.S. since learning of Alex’s condition. Language Alex is fluent in English and is in 5th grade. Likes the outdoors, such as camping and exploring. He also enjoys spending time at home playing on his iPad. Alex likes to draw everything and anything. Alex is described as smart, kind, and helpful. Register for Alex's wish on CERVIS


Josue A is an 11-year-old boy diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Lives Far Rockaway with his parents and older sisters. Language Josue and his sisters speak English while his parents speak primarily Spanish. Likes collecting anime figurines such as Dragonball Z, and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. He also enjoys listening to Bad Bunny and watching Spongebob and Home Alone. He’s described as very talkative and funny. Spanish Speaking Family Register for Josue's wish on CERVIS


Kevin Z is a 14-year-old young man diagnosed with Tricuspid Malformation/Disorder. Lives: Springfield Gardens in Queens with his mother, stepfather and two brothers. Language: The family is verbal in primarily Spanish, while Kevin prefers to speak English. Kevin is in the 9th grade and experiences a slight speech delay. The family is traveling to Ecuador to see La Mitad Del Mundo in December! Likes: Kevin enjoys playing video games on his PS4 and playing with his younger brother. Saban T is an 18-year-old boy diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. Lives: Jackson Heights with his mother and father. Language: He is fluent in English and is a first year in college. He is very close with his older siblings and cousins. Likes: Saban enjoys playing basketball. He is always out! He enjoys movies nights in the winter and the beach during the summer. Victor F is an 18-year-old boy diagnosed with Malignant neoplasm of bone. Lives: in College Point with his mother, father, brother, sister, dog, and 2 guinea pigs. Language: He is fluent in both English and Spanish, but primary speaks English. Victor is in 12th grade. Likes: He enjoys playing video games on his Xbox, watching movies, and reading manga. He loves to watch anime. Victor also enjoys swimming and martial art ju jitsu. Register for Victor's wish on CERVIS


Andrew M is a 9-year-old boy diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Lives: in Flushing with his mother and father. Language: Andrew is fluent in English and Korean and is in 4th grade. He is very smart and knows 5th grade math. Likes: He loves Harry Potter, Hulk, Thor, and Sonic the hedgehog. If he went to Hogwarts, Andrew would want to be Gryffindor. His favorite foods are Cheetos, domino's pizza, and mac and cheese. His nickname is Sonic when he does Tae Kwon Do! Register for Andrew's wish on CERVIS


Staten Island: 


Saqib J is a 5-year-old boy diagnosed with Bone Marrow Transplant. Lives: on Staten Island with his parents and three cousins. Language: Saqib is verbal in Urdu and is also learning English; Saqib’s parents are verbal in Urdu. Practices: The family follows a Halal diet. Likes: Saqib enjoys playing with his cousins and playing with toys. He also enjoys going to school and wants to go back to Pakistan one day. Samiah W is a 13-year-old young woman living with Sickle Cell Disease. Lives: Staten Island with her mother, step-father, older brother and younger brother. Her older brother received a wish for a shopping spree! Language: The family is verbal in English. Samiah is in 7th grade She recently turned 13 and had her friends over for a sleepover. Likes: Samiah enjoys watching and making Tik Toks. As Samiah is becoming a teenager, many of her interests are changing. Register for Samyiah's wish on CERVIS

 

Bronx:


Ian L is a 6-year-old boy diagnosed with Chronic Ventilator Dependence. Lives: the Bronx with his mother and 4 siblings. Language: Ian is nonverbal. His family is verbal in English and Spanish. He understands when his mother is talking to him and when his siblings come into his room Likes: when his mother plays music on his TV in his room.. Register for Ian's wish on CERVIS


Simiya C is a 14-year-old girl diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease. Lives: In the Bronx with her mother. She is described as sarcastic and sweet. Likes: She loves playing video games on her Xbox 360, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. She loves to dance, play basketball, and hang out with friends. Register for Simiya's wish on CERVIS


Aliya R is a 14-year-old girl diagnosed with Malignant neoplasm of bone. Lives: in the Bronx with her mother, father, 2 brothers, and sister. Likes: She is in 8th grade and is fluent in English. She is very close with her grandparents. Aliya has a dog and a cat. Her favorite food is salad. She likes to read, rock climb, and photography. She likes music and plays the piano and the guitar. Genesis S is a 5-year-old girl diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Lives: She lives in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx with her parents, older brother, grandmother and two uncles. Language: The family is verbal in English and Genesis recently started Kindergarten! Likes: She loves anything pink, purple or sparkly. She also loves princesses, coloring and spending time with her family. Genesis also likes to help cook and clean and has a friendly personality! Register for Genesis' wish on CERVIS


Brooklyn:


Udy L is a 4-year-old girl diagnosed with Neoplasm of uncertain behavior of spinal cord. Lives Williamsburg, Brooklyn with her parents and her younger siblings. Language Yiddish and is learning English. Her parents are verbal in English. Practices The family is Jewish; they observe the Sabbath and are very involved in the Jewish community. Udy is G-Tube dependent and uses a stroller or wheelchair to move around. Likes music and often imitates the adults at Sabbath meals. Edgar C is an 11-year-old boy diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Lives Gravesend, Brooklyn with his mother, older sisters and younger brother. Language English and Spanish while his mom speaks only Spanish. Edgar is in the 6th grade and enjoys reading. Likes playing video games, especially Fortnite and racing games. His favorite food is pizza and chicken nuggets. He enjoys playing with his dog Chase and watching cooking videos on YouTube. Renata F is a 4-year-old girl diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Lives Flatlands, Brooklyn with her parents, sister, and dog. Language Spanish. Likes alphabet letter soup. Renata loves to play kitchen and cook. She also likes to draw on her chalk board. Her favorite color to draw with is yellow. Renata can be described as a very cute, verbal, and engaged 4-year-old. Jamie L is a 3-year-old girl diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma. Lives in Midwood section of Brooklyn with her parents and twin brother. Language Jamie’s parents are verbal in English and Mandarin/Cantonese. Needs Jamie is non-verbal due to her age and delays post-treatment and she is in speech therapy. Jamie and her brother were in the NICU prior to her diagnosis. She can walk and move independently. The family is interested in a Disney World wish. Register for Jamie's wish on CERVIS


Reinaldo R is an 11-year-old boy diagnosed with Thalassemia. Lives: in Brooklyn with his mother and stepfather. Language: Reinaldo is fluent in English and is in 6th grade. Reinaldo is named after the famous soccer player, Christiano Reinaldo. Likes: He loves pets and has a dog and a turtle. Reinaldo is described as outgoing, talkative, and knowledgeable. He also likes sports. His favorite teams are the Memphis Grizzlies and the Boston Celtics. He likes to play games with friends; like tossing the football and has wanted to swim with dolphins. Manhattan: 


Amel H is a 3-year-old girl living with a Kidney Transplant. Lives West Harlem with her parents and sisters. Language Amel and her sisters speak English and Arabic equally while her parents primarily speak Arabic. Practice The family is Muslim, and they observe the holidays and pray often. She is described as a good and sweet girl who enjoys being outside with her siblings. Religion is a big part of her life, especially with her being sick. Asher T is a 5-year-old boy diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot. Lives: Merrick with his mother, father, and brother. Language: Family is fluent in English. Likes: He also enjoys watching Disney movies. His favorite characters are Kermit from the Muppets, SpongeBob, and the Minions. His favorite colors are red and blue. His favorite food is hot dogs with nothing on it. Asher is always singing and dancing, he likes to have fun. Asher even makes his own songs! He also loves video games and board games. Adrianna L is a 15-year-old girl diagnosed with Malignant neoplasm of bone (Ewing/Osteosarcoma). Lives: in Massapequa with her mother, father, 4 siblings, and 2 dogs. Snoopy is her favorite character. Language: Family is fluent in English. Likes: Adrianna is into skin care. She also loves to clean and considers herself a clean freak. She loves soccer.
