Pastor-to-People

This Sunday June 29 we will have the great privilege of hearing Elder

Kathy Mitchell preach and then teach the Adult CE Class. Kathy is a

Commissioned Pastor at the Chinle, Arizona, Presbyterian Church. She is

also related to several of our church members (her sisters Ona and Crystal, and her mother, Ruthie Mitchell). Kathy will discuss her ministry to the Native People in her community as both a public school teacher and minister.

She has also a wonderful project distributing books to her people. During the service we will bless several of these books for her mobile library.

Also my wife Sharon who works for the Synod of the Southwest will be bringing some New Testaments, called the First Nations Version, for Kathy's use.

About 15 years ago I met Kathy on a Synod of the Southwest Mission

trip to China. We toured all over that amazing country and learned so much together. I really enjoyed getting to know Kathy on that trip, and have seen her several times at Synod meetings since then. She is an amazing person and one you don't want to miss hearing.

It is really important for our congregation to maintain our outreach to the Native People here in New Mexico and Arizona. I am so grateful that this congregation has demonstrated your willingness to help and engage with all our sisters and brothers throughout New Mexico and Arizona. So see you all Sunday, God willing.

Peace and hope

Frank

There's a Book in the Narthex Titled And So..., for Check-Out

Jason Dykehouse, son of Russ and Genevieve, has written a book, And So...Notes on the Bible and Religion. Copies are available to borrow in the narthex under the Mission bulletin boards. Just list your name on a check-out sheet next to the books.

Many Thanks to the Church Flowers Care & Watering Team

We appreciate the love and care the church planters/waterers/pruners give to our outdoor plants! The potted plants team is: Leah and Pat, Joy and Dave, and Denise; and the rose garden is tended by Sheila and Lee. Thanks also to Aloy and Marv, who provide and plant the flowers every year, and Kathy and Mike. Both couples selflessly expended a lot of energy on the outdoor pots. We all enjoy the beautiful (and thriving!) flowers when we drive in to the parking lot.

Additional Groups/Committees Taking Time Off This Summer

There may be more of you, but as of today, Jun 26, please see additions to last week's list in red:

  • Finance, Session, Worship, Men's Breakfast, Mission, and Prayer Chain -- next meetings, August.
  • Building & Grounds, Book Club, Deacons, Prayer Shawl Ministry (Knitting/Crochet group), and Women's Bible Study -- next meetings, September.

Prayer Concerns

Prayer makes your heart bigger, until it is capable of containing the gift of God himself. Prayer begets faith, faith begets love, and love begets service on behalf of the poor. ~Saint Teresa of Calcutta (formerly Mother Teresa)
