Scottish Reformation Sunday,

Communion Sunday, Food Sunday

Join us this Sunday at 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. as we celebrate our Scottish heritage. Dr. Ryan Baer will preach a sermon entitled, Speak Good Words. The scripture lessons for this week are John 13:1-5, 12-17 and 1 Kings 12:3-19.

We welcome Mr. Henry Frantz, Jr. (Great Highland Bagpipes) and Mrs. Meghan Bawcum (Violinist) as guest musicians. At the 11:00 service, the Chancel Choir will sing The Stranger’s Guise, by Karen Marrolli, as the offertory anthem.

Also at the 11:00 a.m. service, we will recognize local and state dignitaries. All are welcome to join the processional and recessional. If you need to borrow a kilt, please call Smith Wilson, 706-338-4646.

You can follow the livestream of the service on Facebook or YouTube. For instructions to follow livestream through Facebook or YouTube, click here. Find the text and audio from previous weeks' sermons, along with a copy of the bulletin, here.

Volunteers Needed for Family Promise Host Weeks

May 7-May 21

First Presbyterian will be the host church for Family Promise families May 7 - 21 and we need your help to fill the volunteer slots. The families will be at the Milledge Avenue Baptist Church static site. If you are able to help, please sign up in the church Atrium or by using the link here. Training required for new volunteers is very simple: you just have to watch an online video. For more information or questions, please contact Susan Boatwright.

Graduation Sunday

May 14

Each year, we recognize our high school graduates in worship on Mother’s Day. Youth and their parents are invited forward for a blessing, with a reception to follow in Fellowship Hall. Whether active or not, we want to celebrate all our seniors! If you know of a High School Senior, please e-mail their information to Kim Ness at kness@firstpresathens.org so we can extend an invitation.

“Everybody Hurts (Sometimes)”

Sundays in June: Worship at 10:00 a.m., Sunday School at 11:30 a.m.

In June, you are invited to join us for “Everybody Hurts (Sometimes),” a series of sermons and Sunday school classes around four topics: addiction, suicide, domestic abuse, and divorce. People may be wondering what the church has to say about these difficult topics. To that end, worship in June will focus on the theological and spiritual aspects of the pastoral care topics covered in the Sunday school sessions.

This Sunday school will be a safe and confidential space. A Stephen Minister or Elder will interview people who have been affected by these topics. Participants will gain more knowledge about these issues, and awareness of how they can care for themselves and others. Brunch and childcare will be provided while you are at Sunday school, but RSVP for both will be needed by Wednesdays prior. If you plan to attend the class and do not need childcare or do not plan to eat, RSVP is not necessary.

Our Daily Bread - Downtown Ministries

Volunteers from FPC provide and serve meals to our neighbors in need monthly at First Baptist Church: lunch on the first Wednesday, and breakfast on the second and fourth Tuesdays. For details and to help, please contact Ann Dunn at anndunn8@gmail.com or Fran Lane at fjlane@uga.edu.
