8:45 and 11:00 a.m.

Communion Sunday, Food Sunday

Join us this Sunday at 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. as Dr. Ryan Baer will preach a sermon entitled, The End? The scripture lessons for this week are Revelation 7:13-17 and Daniel 12:1-13.

At the 11:00 a.m. service, the Chancel Choir will sing Draw Us in the Spirit’s Tether, by Harold W. Friedell, as the offertory.

You can follow the livestream of the services on Facebook or YouTube. For instructions to follow livestream through Facebook or YouTube, click here. Find the text and audio from previous weeks' sermons, along with a copy of the bulletin, here.

Food Sunday

September 1

You may bring donations of peanut butter, cold breakfast cereals, and dry pasta to church on Sunday, September 1. You may also bring items to the church office until Friday, August 30. Our neighbors in need are very grateful for your donations! Many thanks for your thoughtfulness and generosity!

Come Volunteer with Children and Youth Ministries

Children and Youth Ministries at FPC are at the beginning of a new and exciting season and we need your help! All members of the congregation are invited to sign up to help support these ministries by serving occasionally as a teacher or volunteer, by bringing a meal, or chaperoning an outing. All FPC volunteers must be in compliance with our Child and Youth Protection Policy and undergo a biannual background check – we're happy to help with completing those steps. Working with our youth and children is a gift – not one that is just reserved for parents! – and we hope you'll consider sharing your time with these important ministries of our church.

Our Daily Bread, Thank you Pete and Caroline Randa!

For the past several years, Pete and Caroline Randa have volunteered for Our Daily Bread. Not only is Pete an expert at scrambling the dozens of eggs required for the twice-monthly breakfast, but he also made the early morning trip to buy eggs, butter and other supplies needed to provide a healthy, balanced start to the day for our neighbors in need. In addition to breakfast, FPC volunteers also prepare lunch once a month for Our Daily Bread. If you would like to learn more about volunteering, whether on a regular or as-needed basis, please email Joan Pinson (joanpinson@aol.com) about breakfast Leslie DeSimone (ldesimon@uga.edu) about lunch. FPC has been actively involved with Our Daily Bread since the organization began in 1989.

Red Cross Blood Drive

September 22, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Please join us in the Fellowship Hall and help save a life! Reserve an appointment online at redcrossblood.org (sponsor code AFPC), or contact the church office (call 706-543-4338 or e-mail frontdesk@firstpresathens.org).

If you cannot give blood but would like to help check-in donors, please contact Joe Neighbors to volunteer (jbneighb@bellsouth.net).

Atrium Fall Fellowship Hosts

Hosting Atrium Fellowship is a minimal commitment with maximum impact on our church community. The church provides the drinks, snacks, and serving pieces. You can arrive a half-hour before worship and set everything up according to the instructions you will receive the week of your commitment. A few minutes before worship ends, slip out and set up in the Atrium on the table that will be set for you. After 30 minutes or so, you can begin to break down and return the supplies to the kitchen (there will be more detailed instructions you receive).

Click here to volunteer. For more information and questions, please contact Chuck Toney.

Save the Date

Join us on Sunday, October 20, 12:15 p.m. in Fellowship Hall for a Haitian Lunch. We will hear an update from Rennae Henry, Executive Director of Bethlehem Ministry, and the Bruno Family.

Wreaths Across America

Oconee Hill Cemetery and Apalachee Chapter DAR are sponsoring the “Wreaths Across America” project again this year. The goal of this nationwide project is to place a wreath on the grave of every Veteran in America – one grave at a time. Last year, 776 wreaths were placed in Oconee Hill Cemetery. The list has increased to over 1000! To sponsor a wreath, download the form in this link for both online sponsorship info and a mail-in form.
