Come to church this Sunday, June 19, for a special celebration of Godspeed for Pastor Adam Bissell and his family between services.

After serving faithfully at Emmanuel as our Faith Formation Director and a hospice chaplain for Good Samaritan Hospice, Pr. Adam has accepted a call as the senior pastor at a Methodist church in Ann Arbor, MI.

We will miss them greatly—join us during worship and in the Fellowship Hall as we send Pr. Adam, Shannon, and Lilyan off with prayers and blessings on their new adventure.

June Outreach: Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation

Logo-with-highlight PAHH.png

CASA for Kids is a non-profit organization that serves the unmet needs of children who are in the foster care system and to support the work of the CASA volunteers. Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers act as the “eyes and ears” of the Juvenile Court. Last year we filled the "Ark” with new stuffed animals for the special closet at CASA that are kept in a special closet at CASA where children are allowed to “shop” for a new friend to hug and love.

We know that many of you are looking forward to travelling during the summer. But don’t forget to drop off or mail in your offering or pledge before you go! Summer is often the time of decreased giving but we still need to keep the lights and the AC on! Six month giving statements will be out soon!

Our next Blood Drive is scheduled for Monday, July 25, in the Emmanuel Lutheran Fellowship Hall. Christine Spayth will be learning the ropes from Gail Gentes to take on the task of chairing the blood drives in the future. Thank you, Christine, and a big thank you to Gail for being the coordinator for the past three years!

June is Pride Month!

I’ve been snapping a few pictures showing gay pride in the community. The assortment of flags, including some gay flags, are at the pub in Prescott. The other business picture is at Target and, of course, we are standing in front of the Prescott courthouse.

Why Is Pride Month Celebrated in June?

Colorful uplifting parades with floats and celebrities, joyous festivals, workshops, picnics, and parties are among the principal components of LGBTQ Pride Month, also called Gay Pride, which is celebrated in June in the United States and elsewhere around the world.

The next Interfaith meal is Friday, June 24, and we are offering a sit-down meal in the Fellowship Hall as well as curbside pick-up. Extra help is needed to make this possible. Set up, serving, bussing and washing dishes, and clean up help is needed on Friday morning and meal prep on Thursday. Please let Mary know if you can be available to assist.

Are you a Thrivent member? If so, please consider using your Community Action Cards to help with the cost of these meals.

The Outreach Ministry Team and the special event team of Nancy Smith and Lora Lee Nye will be meeting during the Outreach team regular meeting time on the second Monday in July, the 11th at 9:00 am. They will begin planning for the 30th Anniversary celebration of the chartering of Emmanuel Lutheran as a congregation of the ELCA. They invite members of the Fellowship Ministry team as well as anyone else who would like to be part of the planning for this fun event!

This Sunday, Juneteenth, we will be remembering in prayer the Emanuel 9. At the 2019 ELCA Churchwide Assembly a resolution was adopted designating June 17 as a commemoration of the martyrdom of the Emanuel 9—the nine people shot and killed on June 17, 2015, during a Bible study at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C.

Several events have been planned to honor this day, access to these virtual and hybrid events is available here. Please note the Nationwide Bible Study available this evening at 7:00pm EDT.
