Worship Preview
Pentecost Sunday, May 24 at 9:30 a.m.
The Holy Spirit had entered the room to wholly inaugurate, highly influence, and divinely inspire the believers gathered in what would become known as the first church. I’ve served a few “first churches.” I’ve visited a 2nd Congregational Church, worshipped at a 4th Presbyterian and attended a concert at a 16th Church of Christ Scientist. By the Holy Spirit all find their roots in the first Pentecost. By the strange fire all are united in Christ.
The coming of the Holy Spirit had been promised by Jesus to the disciples. In John’s gospel, Jesus promises the Father will send the "Spirit of truth" to be with believers forever, acting as a helper who teaches. In Luke’s gospel Jesus promises "power from on high," instructing his disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to empower them as his witnesses to the ends of the earth. Truth and power, help and instruction, are these one-time gifts?
On Pentecost Sunday, May 24, we will celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit. I hope you will join the "holy party!" The service will include the Sacrament of Holy Baptism with music by Marybeth Kurnat, Stephen Uhl and Sam Wyatt.
Blessings of the Spirit upon you today!
Pastor David

Summer Mission Trip
Midwest Mission Distribution Center (MMDC) Summer Mission Trip is July 27-30
During our time at MMDC we will have a hands-on mission experience that will bring hope to those receiving supplies. Midwest Mission has been showing God's love through distribution of disaster relief supplies, education, health and micro-business assistance, meeting basic needs around the world and around the corner. Some of the things we might do in July are to pack kits, sort items, sew, help with mailings, build desks, repair bikes and sewing machines, help load /unload supplies or whatever the day's needs may be. There is something for everyone!! Of course, our time together will include devotions, worship and fun connectional times as we grow closer to God and one another!
Sign up! To register and get more information, contact Pastor David pastordavid@bakermemorialchurch.org or Chris Stumpf cstumpf0308@gmail.com Sign up on church app or here.
