Summer Mission Trip

Monday-Thursday, July 27-30

We only have a few spots left on our summer mission trip to Midwest Mission. Don't miss out! During our time at MMDC we will have a hands-on mission experience that will bring hope to those receiving supplies. Some of the things we might do in July are to pack kits, sort items, sew, help with mailings, build desks, repair bikes and sewing machines, help load /unload supplies or whatever the day’s needs may be. There is something for everyone! Of course, our time together will include devotions, worship and fun connectional times as we grow closer to God and one another!

Sign up! To register and get more information, contact Pastor David or Chris Stumpf. Sign up on church app or here.

MINISTRY MESSAGE

LAY LEADERSHIP: What is Your Commitment to Serve?

The United Methodist Church professes that it is “the laity of the church, called to be disciples, who fulfill the Great Commission through acts of service that heal and liberate a broken world. This response is our ministry.” At Baker Memorial Church, we participate in Christ’s mission through a structure of two general administrative & program areas and several committees within those areas. The Spiritual Formation & Discipleship (SF&D) seeks to design, coordinate and implement ministries that nurture the faith of people of all ages. It focuses on connection, community, and care, while assessing each program such as Sunday School, Missions (like the Christmas Giving Tree), adult education and associated events. The Strategy & Administration (S&A) area provides leadership for stewarding our building, finances, and staffing; i.e. Trustees, Finance Committee and Staff Parish Relations. Other leadership is provided for the Endowment Committee, Columbarium, etc.

Every May-July, the church examines current leadership needs, assesses vacancies, and recruits new leadership for the upcoming program year, which begins in earnest in August. The recruiting has begun! We encourage all members to review the open positions listed below and prayerfully consider serving. Please contact either me or Justin Masterman, our Lay Leader, regarding your interest. More information will be provided to anyone who feels a calling to serve but is hesitant to say “yes.” Don’t worry, friends. Guidance and grace is abundant for all who serve! The current leadership of the S&A and SF&D will develop the roster of new leaders throughout the summer. The new slate of lay leadership will be presented at a joint meeting of the two ministry areas on Monday, August 17, 2026; the congregation will vote on the roster at the fall’s church conference (date tba).
