The Outreach Ministry Team has planned our God’s Work. Our Hands. activity this year for Saturday, November 6. The event is called Soup and Socks Saturday. We are inviting different groups within the church to provide the makings for a hot soup (two gallons) which we will cook in our kitchen and then will be giving it away to the community on Saturday! The church council is in, and the Tuesday Morning Women’s Bible Study has committed to minestrone soup, what is your group thinking about?

Folks will be encouraged to donate new socks that will be given to the Humboldt Unified School District Resource Center. We have procured two Thrivent Action Cards to help defray the cost of the take-out containers and some of the soup fixings! If you are a Thrivent member and haven’t used your Action Cards this year, please see Mary in the church office about ways you can use them to assist the ministries at Emmanuel.

We celebrate with Pastor Sarah, who was interim pastor at Emmanuel October 2017-August 2018!

Pastor Sarah Upham = Birdsall and Jane Upham = Birdsall, fell in love while restoring the chapel at Faith Lutheran Church in Phoenix. They were married there on September 10, 2021. They are inviting prayers and sharing happiness!

It's time for this week's Ministry Team feature!

More than Enough.png

The Stewardship Ministry Team is led by Parker Northrup and is responsible for Christian Stewardship and works closely with the Finance Committee. The team explores and makes available to the congregation many opportunities to be good stewards of our gifts through sharing our time, talents and financial blessings. This may be done through learning, serving, the annual pledge drive and occasional special fund raising.

We hope to build the membership of this team in the coming year and to expand our understanding of stewardship as a year-round activity, not just something that happens at pledge time.

This team also coordinates the counting of the donations and offerings made to Emmanuel. If you are comfortable with handling cash, are available after worship or on Mondays, and are willing to be trained, we have a place for you! If you have a heart for creating a culture of generosity in our community, please contact Parker or Pr. Tricia to become a part of this dynamic stewardship team.

Giving Statements for January through September will be in your church mailbox within the next week. Please check the next time you are in the church building to see if yours is there. Also note that our new members have mailboxes now, too, so the order has changed again. The boxes are in alphabetical order and your last name is below your box! See the special note included in your statement that lets you know the ministries that have been supported by your generous giving. If you find an error on your statement, please let Mary in the office know; Jim White is on vacation for a few weeks so won’t be able to respond to your inquiries.

Here's the link to Sunday's scheduled livestream. You will receive the Worship email at 8:00 a.m. (so that it'll be higher up in your Inbox around 9:00 a.m.). If you're subscribed to our channel you can set a reminder!

Remember that it takes a few hours for YouTube to process our livestream video after we finish filming. Click "Read More" to find your options viewing options!
