Kindness Walks the Hallways at WCA

Dear Families & Friends,

Kindness is a trait that we model for our students every day at Wildwood Catholic Academy. By showing kindness through our actions the students learn how to treat others in small, but important ways. One of my favorite things is when a student is "caught" helping another student. Just this week, Tyler, shown in the photo above, stopped to tie a friend’s shoe in the hallway this morning. Kindness is a movement and creates a chain reaction that we see throughout school. "The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the greatest intention." ~Kahlil Gibran

Congratulations to our 8th grade students, Bohdan, Abby, Diana, Mae, and Will, for winning the Anglesea Irish Society scholarship. They will be presented their scholarships at the 10am Mass at St. Ann's Church on Saturday, March 16.

Theater: Reserve your seat at an entertaining and delicious buffet breakfast at Duffinetti's on March 16. Money raised will help support the WCA Theater Program. Plus remember to get your tickets for the show! WCA was live on 98.7 The Coast to promote the Green Eggs and Ham fundraiser, and the spring musical, Seussical.

Sports: Spring sports began practicing this week. Schedules are posted here.

75th Anniversary: To commemorate 75 years we kicked off a campaign to raise $75,000 in 75 Days. Donations fund academic programs, competitive athletics, and extracurricular activities.

You can donate in three ways:

In the Classroom

Fourth Graders Put Final Touches On "Color My World" Project

Our fourth graders tackled a writing and artistic endeavor on the theme "Color My World." Students were asked to write a poem about a color, and were additionally challenged to decorate the poem with imagery from magazines. Using visuals along with the written word allowed multiple lessons to coincide. Ask your student about the color and imagery that they chose.

5th Grade

Practicing Editing Skills With Partners

The fifth graders have been practicing their peer editing skills. They have been working on research papers, and then paired up with a classmate to begin the editing process. Working in pairs provides a comfortable way for students to work through new skills and concepts, and gives them a chance to try out new ideas.

Catholic Corner

Youth Stations of the Cross

Every Friday in Lent the parish of Notre Dame de la Mer has Stations of the Cross at Assumption Church at 6pm. On Friday, March 22 we will be doing the Stations directed toward the youth. After the Stations, which is about 45 minutes, I would like to invite the youth of the parish and their families to join us for a pizza social in Kelly Hall. Any family who would like to bring a dessert to share would be appreciated.

Please RSVP by phone at 609-522-2709 ext. 218 or email [email protected], so I can order enough pizza.

Hope to see you all there!

Cast members from Seussical were live on 98.7 The Coast to promote the Green Eggs and Ham fundraiser, this Saturday 3/16, and the spring musical, Seussical. Seussical runs next Thursday 3/21, and Friday 3/22 at 7pm and Saturday 3/23 at 2pm and 7pm. Get your tickets for the breakfast and shows in both the Upper School and Lower School offices.

This week students “dressed like a famous person." Students were able to dress like a famous person in exchange for a donation to The Lazarus House. Take a look at all of these stars: Lainey Wilson, Albert Einstein, and Taylor Swift are just a few of the famous people depicted.

On Wednesday the American Red Cross was at our school. We are so proud of all the students that volunteered and donated blood.

Fourth graders put the final touches on their “Color My World” poems. Each student wrote a poem about a color, then they were challenged to decorate it with pictures from magazines.

Last week kindergartners enjoyed Dr. Seuss themed rotations.

During Read Across America Week the cast of Seussical the Musical celebrated by performing and reading books to several classes. They also visited our friends at Bishop McHugh.
