Angel Tree 2023

If you would like to support the children of incarcerated parents in Person County, you can purchase a $25 gift card from Walmart and/or give $25 to Amanda Puett, and it will be shared with a local child whose parent is incarcerated as a gift from their parent.

Shoebox Ministry

If you'd like to give a shoebox or two this year, please have it at the church by November 23rd, and Emma Jean will deliver them. Click HERE for a link to how to be part of this fun ministry that means so much to children around the world.

Food and Clothing Pantry in Rougemont

The Rougemont food and clothing pantry at the Rougemont UMC needs donations and help: show up on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month at the church. The food and clothes are given out from 8:30 to 10, but you can show up earlier to help.

Blessings Box in Timberlake

A Blessings Box has been placed at "Bart's Shell" (now Marathon Gas, called Timberlake Mart) as a place where folks in need can pick up things to help. If you would like to contribute, you can drop things off directly at the box or you can leave stuff in the vestibule at church, and Dustin will take it over. Some ideas from the folks who organized it:

- Canned food with ring pulls

- Canned Vegetables Corn, Peas, Carrots, Green Beans, Turnip Greens,

- Canned Beans like Pinto,Black Eyed Beans

- Canned Meat like Tuna, Chicken, Pork, Vienna Sausage

- Peanut Butter and Jelly

- Bagged items such as rice and dry beans

- Hygiene and Personal Care Items Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Shampoo,

- Conditioner, Soap, Toilet Paper, Tissues, Feminine Hygiene…

- Pet Supplies Canned Dog or Cat Food, Treats, Pee Pads, Toys

- Baby Supplies Diapers, Baby Wipes, Baby Oil, Baby shampoo, Food


They ask that we please Check Expiration Dates when taking or donating items. Please no Expired items in box. 6 months past best by date is allowed.

  • Join us for a morning of fellowship as we clean and decorate our beautiful little church!


SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30, HANGING OF THE GREENS SERVICE

  • Join for Sunday School at 10 for Gospel-focused lessons from the Bible
  • Stay for Worship at 11 when we will have the Hanging of the Greens to begin Advent.


TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 6:30PM: CHURCH COUNCIL CHRISTMAS PARTY (and meeting)!

  • All are invited! Bring "finger food" to share, and we'll meet in the fellowship hall to celebrate the coming of Christ and Christmas!


SUNDAY, DECEMBER 14, 11:00AM: CHRISTMAS CANTATA followed by COVERED DISH LUNCH

  • Congregation participation in the Cantata is invited! If you'd like to sing a song or play music or read Scripture or anything, you are invited to be part of this celebration of the Coming of Baby Jesus!
  • Please see Dustin to be part!
  • After, we'll enjoy a covered dish meal together in the Fellowship Hall.


WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24, 7:00pm: CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE

  • At Mt. Tirzah this year!


SATURDAY, JAN. 10, 10:00am: ALL CHURCH CLEAN AND TAKING DOWN OF THE GREENS

  • Join us for a morning of fellowship as we clean and UNdecorate our beautiful little church!


TUESDAY, JANUARY 27, 6:30-8:30PM CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING

  • All are invited to attend, and committee members are encouraged to attend!
  • Committee chairs make up the Church Council and should attend if at all possible.   • SNEAKERS AND SPORTS SHOES: Set them aside for the winter recycling/donation collection!
  • Purchasing Guide for regenerative agriculture, which is food and animal products raised with the least amount of harm to God's Creation. It can cost more but if you can do it, it has a huge impact. Many products are available at the grocery store.
  • Repair Cafe helps you repair common household items in a fun environment while bringing together people to share skills and solve problems. Furniture • Electrical Appliances • Toys • Jewelry • Electronics • Clothing • Tools • Lamps • Clocks • And Much More
  • Mt. Sylvan wants your compostables!
  • Take your styrofoam to First-Elon for recycling into building materials!
  • Take your plastic wrap to Bethany for recycling into park benches!
  • Green Star Recycling, located at 109 Oxford Rd. (Hwy 158), wants your metal! They are open Monday through Friday, 9-4, for drop-offs.
  • The Scrap Exchange in Durham takes all kinds of things, including craft supplies, packing peanuts, and bubble wrap! Click HERE for more details!
  • Recycle textiles! Old socks, shirts, anything that can't be donated that is made of textiles can be stuffed into a bag, purchased at this site, and recycled. Click HERE for details! (I vetted it. It is legit.)
  • Recycle Christmas lights at Lowes!
