Celebrant/Preacher, The Rev. Kim F. Capwell

Last Sunday's reception to welcome the Rev. Kim Capwell as our Interim Rector was a joyful occasion. We thank everyone who baked, brought goodies, or helped in any way.

As we enter the holiday season we look forward to welcoming all of you to St. James' as we continue our journey of transition.

Sunday, November 17 - Family Promise Quilt Raffle, Quilt on Display: Please stop by the Parish House during Coffee Hour to see the beautiful quilt for the annual Family Promise Quilt Raffle Fundraiser. This year’s quilt is a hand stitched Amish quilt. It is Queen size (100” x 117”).
Chances will be available. The chances are $1.00 each, 6 for $5.00, and 15 for $10.00.

The drawing for the winner will be held at the St. Barnabas Bazaar on Saturday, December 7, 2019.

Adopt-a-Family: St. James' has been given the privilege of sponsoring two needy families for Christmas. The first family is a single Mother who suffered a major loss of a loved one, which has affected both her and her children. Due to funeral expenses, losing her car, losing hours from work, it has been difficult to keep up with bills. The children in this family are two sons ages 14 and 12, and one daughter age 11.
Over the past 12 months, the second family has been living in a domestic shelter. The Mother has Cerebral Palsy and is only able to work part-time. The family has been through a great deal of hardship this year. The children are three sons ages 13, 7, and 5.
If you are able to donate (any amount), these needy families would be so grateful. We can make a big difference in bringing joy to their Christmas.

The final Sunday to give is Nov. 24 to allow us to deliver the gift cards to meet Adopt-A-Family's deadline. Checks should be written to St. James' Church with a notation of Adopt-A-Family. Cash should be put in the offering in an envelope marked "Adopt-A-Family."

Turkey Dinner Success!   Thank you to all who supported our annual Turkey Dinner! We served about 350 delicious meals. What a wonderful event for our congregation to come together.  This annual event has always been one of our largest fundraisers and we are looking for others to run with it next year. We will give our written directions to make this fun time easy to take over. Don’t let this St. James’ tradition go away! Save the FUN and FELLOWSHIP we have all come to love.  Please contact: Jennifer Idell, Allison Jessup, Sam White or Susan Winward.

Pledge Card Reminder: The Vestry strongly encourages you to return your pledge card no later than November 30. As St. James’ transitions from an interim to a full time rector, your pledge is critical for us to provide the financial means to maintain our historic 300+ year church.
