We'd love for you to join us!

We would be pleased if you joined us online and from the comfort of your home for church services via Facebook Live at 9:30am.

While we're not attending church services at this time, you can still read your bible at home and take this time to meditate and pray.
The Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace
Where there is hatred, let me sow love
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith
Where there is despair, hope
Where there is darkness, light
And where there is sadness, joy
O Divine Master, grant that I may
Not so much seek to be consoled as to console
To be understood, as to understand
To be loved, as to love
For it is in giving that we receive
And it is in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Amen

From Valerie Brunson:

The Family Promise Rotational Network is open again!!

For everyone’s safety during this pandemic, families will be housed at a motel .  They will still receive all the same case management services they would have received previously, just not at the Day Center. Congregations are still needed to provide support in the form of evening meals, and other supplies, including breakfast and lunch.

The St. James host week starts the week of August 23. We will be looking for volunteers to supply dinner to our guest families. There are currently 2 families in the network, however that may change as we get closer to our host week. We will keep you updated as we know more. If you are interested, Dave Perry will be sending out an email shortly or you can contact him directly to sign up.

At this time, we are not looking for other donations. Breakfasts, lunches, and other supplies will be purchased after the coordinators have been in contact with the families to determine their needs.

If you would like to participate but do not feel comfortable venturing outside, monetary donations are always welcome and will be used to purchase breakfasts, lunches, and other supplies.

As always, many thanks to our volunteers. You are the reason we are able to do this worthwhile ministry. Every family we support gets us that much closer to ending family homelessness. Thank you for all you do.

Emmanuel Dining Room Update

Today, July 31st is St. James' day to provide the lunch for the Emmanuel Dining Room East on Walnut Street in Wilmington. For many of our brothers and sisters in need of nourishment on a daily basis, this is their only meal.
Due to the precautions necessary to provide a "safe" meals during this Covid pandemic, we are still unable to go and serve or even gather to make food in our church kitchen. But, thanks to many of you, we delivered the ingredients to feed over 200 for today's lunch and bottles of water for yesterday's lunch. Those who need, will receive a tuna sub, bag of potato chips, banana, cookies, and a much cherished bottle of water.

Since March, the small staff at Emmanuel Dining Room East has been working overtime preparing the food, putting them in take out containers, and distributing the meals from the sidewalk outside of the dining room for those who come and stand in line from noon to 1 p.m.--six feet apart to receive their "take away" meal. Every day, they have been feeding upwards of 200 individuals in need.

Please consider making a donation for this ministry either by donating to St. James' (please note "for EDR") or directly to the Ministry of Caring (note "for EDR East").
For the donations St. James' receives, we will purchase additional cases of bottled water and other items much needed and in short supply. If you have questions, please call Pat Minor (738-3753) or Cindy Fauerbach (239-8336)

With thanks,

The St. James' Emmanuel Dining Room ministry and the dedicated staff at the Emmanuel Dining Room East

Several other cool items were found and will be shared later.
