From Father Kim,

Dear St. James Folks,

The Scripture appointed for today is: (I invite you to prayerfully read them)

Isaiah 52: 13 – 53:12
Psalm 22
Hebrews 4: 14-16, 5: 7-9
John 18: 1 – 19: 42

On this day the powers of evil thought that they had their way, BUT as we know they did NOT!! Jesus’ last words in this Gospel were “it is finished”. Nothing less than the salvation of the world was finished and Easter was the proof!

In this time of crisis we need to hold fast to this promise! No matter how bad things seem, Resurrection is certain. Easter will come! No matter when we are freed from home confinement we WILL celebrate Easter. We will gather with family and friends!

Let us all pray for speedy recovery and for the time we can once again be together.
God bless,
Kim

While we're not attending church services at this time, you can still read your bible at home and take this time to meditate and pray.
From Keith St. John:

Dear St. James choir and friends,

It was sad to not be together remembering the institution of the Holy Eucharist at Jesus' Last Supper yesterday evening. Now we are in the midst of Good Friday - a very somber day of remembrance that Christ died on the cross for us so we may have eternal life with him. In normal times, we would be hosting the Mill Creek Churches Good Friday Service with combined choirs, Michael Larkin as our choir Director, and yours truly as organist, but not this year. I realize that in the Episcopal tradition we withhold singing/saying Hallelujahs until Resurrection Day, but I came across such a beautiful version of this popular song by Leonard Cohen "Hallelujah" with Good Friday/Easter lyrics and images, I had to share it with all of you:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC1Nvn4Bk0Y

I confess, it brought me to tears....not tears of sorrow, but rather tears of joy, knowing that my Redeemer Lives. Hallelujah!

In health, and God's Shalom be with all of you,

Keith
