Dear Friends,

Each year I look forward to Thanksgiving with great anticipation! The purity of purpose without undue commercialization is wonderful. Simply an opportunity to gather and give thanks for our blessings. I hope that those who are able will join us at St. John the Beloved on Wednesday November 27 at 7:00 pm for our annual ecumenical Thanksgiving Worship.

The following Sunday is Advent I and the countdown begins. Try, as you are able, to keep reminding yourselves that Christmas is the celebration of the Birth of our Savior! Find time amid the hustle and bustle to hear the “still small voice” that speaks to our soul’s longing for love and acceptance.
Embrace God’s love! Everything else is secondary!

God Bless!

If you would like to be a reader or candle lighter at the lighting of the Advent Candles this Advent season, please let Fr. Kim know at rector@stjamesmillcreek.comcastbiz.net or 302.475.3048. Thank you!

Father Kim would like to meet with members of the Altar Guild this Sunday, November 24, 2019. We will meet between services (9:30-10:00) in the Parish Hall. Anyone interested in joining the Altar Guild is invited to join us!

St. James' Pastoral Care Team is here and wants to help.

If you or someone you know is in need, we send cards, make phone calls, will pray with you and/or for you, make home and hospital visits, and make Eucharistic visits.

Please call the office (302-994-1584) and leave a message. Someone will get back to you. Messages are retrieved daily, seven days a week. Or, on Sundays there are forms and envelopes labeled "Pastoral Care" next to the prayer requests in the church entrance. Please place your request in the offering plate or the prayer basket.

Please let us know if you need us or someone you know needs us. We won't know if you don't tell us.

In case of emergency, please contact Fr. Kim at 973.945.4293.

The deadline for the December Newsletter is today Wednesday, November 20. Please send any articles or submissions to Lola Michael Russell at the office today.

The Servers' Schedules for December will be prepared shortly. Please let Lola know of any dates when you will be unable to serve today, Wednesday, November 20.

Thank you!

Adopt-a-Family: St. James' has been given the privilege of sponsoring two needy families for Christmas. The first family is a single Mother who suffered a major loss of a loved one, which has affected both her and her children. Due to funeral expenses, losing her car, losing hours from work, it has been difficult to keep up with bills. The children in this family are two sons ages 14 and 12, and one daughter age 11.
Over the past 12 months, the second family has been living in a domestic shelter. The Mother has Cerebral Palsy and is only able to work part-time. The family has been through a great deal of hardship this year. The children are three sons ages 13, 7, and 5.
If you are able to donate (any amount), these needy families would be so grateful. We can make a big difference in bringing joy to their Christmas.

The final Sunday to give is Nov. 24 to allow us to deliver the gift cards to meet Adopt-A-Family's deadline. Checks should be written to St. James' Church with a notation of Adopt-A-Family. Cash should be put in the offering in an envelope marked "Adopt-A-Family."

Pledge Card Reminder: The Vestry strongly encourages you to return your pledge card no later than November 30. As St. James’ transitions from an interim to a full time rector, your pledge is critical for us to provide the financial means to maintain our historic 300+ year church.
