Storytellers

Sunday, February 23

Refreshments at 6:00pm, Speakers at 6:30pm

Don't miss Storytellers where you will hear about the faith journeys of these remarkable people!

Anna Ostlie, a senior at Grand Canyon University, is finishing her 5th year of college basketball. She played for three years at Boise State before transferring to GCU. She was confirmed at La Casa de Cristo where she has been able to grow in her faith. She will talk about the lessons she has learned, both on and off the basketball court.

Frank Heldt is the president of Heldt Lumber Company, a 65-year-old business selling lumber and building materials. He is an active member of the board of directors of several Christian charity organizations, including Fuller Seminary and Christians in Commerce. Frank has long been involved at La Casa de Cristo in various ministries. He and his wife, Pat, have been members here since 1975. Frank has guided our various building projects, has served on the Board of Trustees since 2000, and was the former Chairman of the Board.

Helen Yung was born in China in 1949, the same year that Mao Zedong’s Communist Party established control over China. From the time she was born, she was taught to give her ultimate allegiance to Mao and the Party, to reject any Western influences (even classical music!), and to ascribe to an atheistic worldview. But God had other plans and, through a series of miracles, He rescued Helen not only from the terrors of the Communist regime, but from the ultimate problem of sin.

Heart to Heart Grief Support

Tuesdays, March 4 to April 8 at 10:00am

The next six-week session of Heart to Heart Grief Support begins Tuesday, March 4 and runs through April 8, from 10am-12:00 in Room 207. Facilitated by Barbara Olson, the class is designed to assist you in: moving through the grieving process by providing the support of others who are also living with grief, allowing you to express your thoughts in a safe and supportive environment, and helping you discover ways to keep loved ones present in your heart while you build hope for your future. You do not have to be a member of La Casa to attend, so please share this information with friends who may need loving support.

"Come for the chocolate, stay for the Grief Support, and you will walk away with love, laughter, and sunshine in your heart." ~ Barbara

Lent Small Groups

There are many days and times available for you to join a Lent Small Group which will meet for six weeks to study the devotional written by Pastor Carol Peters, "Knowing Who We Are in Christ." If you don't see a day and time that works for you, we invite you to facilitate a small group, which we will help you establish. Email Nancy Berry, Director of Adult Education, at nberry@lacasadecristo.com and let her know your preference.

Lent books are available in the office or after all services this weekend. $5.00 cash or check.
