Beaufort Regional Chamber Weekly e-Newsletter
April 18, 2011
From the President's Desk

This is my last week at the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce Visitor & Convention Bureau.  Thank you for a great five years.   While I was here, I had the privilege of working with many volunteers on many great projects.  Some of the highlights are:

  • Keeping  the F35 planes on track to MCAS Beaufort.
  • Stabilizing and increasing tourism funding for Northern Beaufort County.
  • Passing local ordinances to send more government contracts to local businesses and improving the business license fee ordinance.
  • Working with the Lowcountry Economic Network and Beaufort
  • County Council to implement incentives to attract more diverse businesses to the area.
  • Increasing our ongoing small business support and networking programs from three programs to six.
  • Growing tourism marketing to the point that it will become a stand-alone organization.
  • Improving communications, particularly on public policy issues.

The list of volunteers that have helped this Chamber in my five-year tenure is long.  Thank you all for your support.  I especially want to thank this year's chair, Jimmy Boozer, for his unwaivering support at all levels for the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Thank you all!
