Love of Learning

No meeting in January!

Our next Love of Learning will be in February and will provide a life-saving skill: 'Hands-Only CPR training.'

Hands-Only CPR

Hands-Only CPR is a simple, lifesaving skill that anyone can learn. This training teaches how to recognize a cardiac emergency and perform chest compressions to help keep blood flowing until professional help arrives. No mouth-to-mouth is required, and no prior medical experience is needed.

BRCR Home Fire Safety

The Red Cross Home Fire Safety program helps families prevent fires and prepare for emergencies. Volunteers provide home visits that include fire safety education, escape planning, and the installation of free smoke alarms where needed, helping to keep households safer.

Register here.

Thank you to all who helped to make the Christmas Angel Tree program such a great success again this year. Your love and generosity made it possible to help 247 families and 594 children this season!

Your thoughtfulness and caring has truly been life-changing for these families! It's such a blessing to be part of a church that continues to be the hands and feet of Christ and provides for those in need. May you feel God's blessings each and every day of this New Year.

With love,

The Angel Tree Committee

Trivia Answers

Who wrote the text of the Epiphany carol "We Three Kings of Orient Are”?

John Henry Hopkins Jr.

The Rev. John H. Hopkins, an Episcopal priest, wrote the text of this hymn in 1857 for a Christmas pageant at the General Theological Seminary in New York City.

Who wanted to kill baby Jesus?

Herod

Matthew 2:13-16 - 'When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.” When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.'
