Ashes and Holy Communion

As we enter into the holy season of Lent, we examine our hearts and receive the sign of the cross with ashes, and Holy Communion.

Get excited for small groups which begin meeting March 6th and continue through the beginning of Holy Week. The congregation will read and discuss Pastor Carol Peters' study, "Knowing Who We Are in Christ," which is just one of the ways we can prepare for our Lord's passion, crucifixion, and resurrection. Pick up your copy in the front office, and register today for one of many Lent study groups here. Each Wednesday, enjoy dinner in the Gathering Place and hear Pastor Carol give a message. Let's grow and stretch together!

Holy Week will be dedicated to deepening our prayer life with the Prayer Experience, services on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, and culminating on Resurrection Sunday. Alleluia!

Seek HIM Scavenger Hunt

Beginning this Saturday, March 7, 50 days before the 50th Anniversary of La Casa de Cristo, our entire congregation can participate in a very special scavenger hunt - seeking Jesus - all around the campus. Fifty small Jesus figurines, each with a number on the bottom, will be hidden for anyone to seek out. Here are the directions:

1. Find a figurine of Jesus. (One per person, please.)
2. Place it in the box in the Sanctuary or Front Office.
3. Fill out a ticket with the number you found (located on the bottom of the figurine).
4. There will be a drawing for the winner of a special prize at the 50th Anniversary celebration on Sunday, April 27.

Art Show on Palm Sunday

Calling all artists! It's not too late to register to secure your spot at the Art Show, where you display your talents! Paintings, sculptures, poems, or creations… come show off your work at La Casa de Cristo’s Art Show! This is a way of sharing your gifts with the church. Nothing is for sale, it is only for enjoying each other’s work. By registering online you will receive table space with your name. Spectators do not need to register to attend. It is free and open to the public. All are welcome to come browse the art on Sunday, April 13 from 9:00–11:00am outside in the open air of La Casa de Cristo’s courtyard. Artists register here.

Holy Week Prayer Experience



Palm Sunday, April 13 through Good Friday

The Prayer Experience is a new, immersive, and interactive experience coming to La Casa de Cristo this April. It is a journey filled with contemplation, creativity, light, reflection, and most importantly, conversation with the Divine. Travel through various imaginative spaces designed for you to encounter God. Enter into the presence of the Lord in a way that you never have before. Whether you pray regularly or have never prayed before, you will leave this experience full of peace, wonder, and awe.

It is a self-guided experience that you can travel through at your own pace. You will be greeted at the beginning, only to help you begin your journey. Then, after that, you are free to explore the various prayer rooms on your own – as you meet with the Holy Spirit. Each imaginative and Spirit-filled room will invite you into prayer in different ways. 

The Prayer Experience will be open during Holy Week during the following times. Come anytime during these hours:

Palm Sunday, April 13, 3:00-6:00 pm

Holy Monday, April 14, 3:00-6:00 pm

Holy Wednesday, April 16, 3:00-6:00 pm

Maundy Thursday, April 17, 3:00-6:00 pm

Good Friday, April 18, 3:00-6:00 pm

The Prayer Experience has been specially created for our church and the surrounding community by members of La Casa de Cristo. It is appropriate for all ages and all are welcome. Come individually or with family and friends. Bring your small group or invite a neighbor or colleague. This Holy Week, come be inspired by the glory of Christ at The Prayer Experience.
