Advent is here!

The church liturgical year is coming to a close. With the beginning of Advent this weekend, we start a whole new church year. It is a time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus.

Our traditions include the Advent candles, lighting one candle each week of the season leading up to Christmas Day. First is the Prophecy candle, which reminds us of the hope we have for the coming of our Savior. Spend time in the Word with scriptures such as Matt. 1:21-22, Isa. 7:14, and Isa. 9:6-7. Sing hymns with your family such as "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" or "Come Thou Long Expected Jesus."

Second is the Bethlehem or faith candle, when we remember the journey Joseph and Mary took from Nazareth to Bethlehem. What has your journey toward Christmas been like so far? As busy a time as this is to prepare for the holiday, spend time at the feet of Jesus, being more like Mary than Martha, with these scriptures: Luke 2:1-7, and Luke 10:38-42. Songs to sing this week are "O Little Town of Bethlehem" and "O Come All Ye Faithful."

Third is the Shepherds or joy candle, symbolizing the great joy which is coming. The angel said, "I bring you good news of great joy." Scriptures to read include Luke 2:6-20 and Matt. 2:7-12. Sing the hymns, "Away in a Manger" and "Joy to the World."

Fourth is the Angel or love candle, reminding us of God's love for us by sending His only son into the world. Prepare your hearts to receive His love and peace by reading from John 3:16-17, Luke 1:26-33, and sing hymns such as "The First Noel" and "Angels We Have Heard On High."

Join us for dinner and Advent services on the following Wednesdays in the Gathering Place:

December 3, 10 and 17

Dinner at 5:15pm

Worship at 6pm

Blessed Advent to all!

Angel Tree

A HUGE thank you for your amazing response to adopt a family! There are many families remaining, and our Angel Tree team will be at the Thanksgiving service today, 11/26, as well as at each service on Sunday, Nov. 30th. Stop by and select a family to shop for!

For those who have gifts and food boxes to drop off, please bring them to La Sagrada Familia, 2500 E. Campo Bello Dr., next Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 8am until 7pm or Saturday, Dec. 6, 8:00am-1pm. You will have help unloading your car. Find more details and donate here.

If you cannot shop but still want to help, you can purchase Fry’s, Target or WalMart Gifts Cards and drop them off at the office, or write a check to La Casa de Cristo and designate in memo field 'Angel Tree.' These funds will be used for groceries and basic needs. Please do not purchase gifts or material items if you didn’t adopt an angel; we suggest gift cards or monetary donations. Also, you can help to deliver gifts on Sat., December 13 at 8am, leaving from La Sagrada Familia, 2500 E. Campo Bello Drive. Just show up! Breakfast will be served.

Congregational Vote for Board of Trustees

at all services on the weekend of December 6/7

This is to notify the congregation that a written ballot congregational vote will be held the weekend of Dec. 6/7 at all services for the purpose of electing members of the Board of Trustees. Confirmed members are eligible to vote at all services that weekend. Bios of nominees can be found here.

Ministry Fund Pledge

Despite challenges in our nation and world, La Casa continues to move forward in our mission, "To love those who don’t know Jesus, and grow those who do!"

To continue in our mission, we need your support by filling out your 2026 pledge for our ministry fund. We shared this in worship last weekend.
