Love of Learning for October and November

Don't unravel this Fall! It is never too late to learn a new handicraft! We will do a simple 'how to' crochet project at this hands-on event. All supplies are provided but feel free to bring yarn, crochet hooks (size G and H are best) or knitting needles (size 10 or 11) to get started. Combating Financial Exploitation of Seniors
Tuesday, Nov. 18 - 1:00pm, Room B
Join Malea Madrid as she shares her expertise related to the growing problems of scams and financial abuse targeting older adults. She will address the real difference between fraud and scams, and discuss some of the tactics used by scammers. She will use real life stories that highlight how easily trust can be misused, practical steps to safeguard personal information (finances, online accounts), and how to recognize red flags so you can respond and take action. We will look at the Golden Rule movement, an effort to expand legal protections for "competent yet vulnerable" adults. This session is designed to be engaging, relatable and empowering, Helping everyone feel more confident and informed about protecting themselves. Register here.
