ADDING ANOTHER SERVICE   From Fr. David

I would like to start a discussion about adding an alternative service Fr. David Lynch at our parish on either Saturday or Sunday evening. This service would be different from the two existing Sunday morning services with different music and a different liturgical format. My interest in considering this additional service is to give folks an opportunity to attend a spiritual experience at a time other than Sunday morning.

Things I am considering include:
  • Holding this service on Saturday or Sunday evening around 5:30 pm in a casual setting
  • Having contemporary music from the Taize and Cursillo traditions and other sources;
  • Involving youth and folks of all ages in reading and liturgical participation
What I need to know most is which day works better for you?   Look for more information to come in the next few weeks, including a very brief survey I hope will help us make a good decision.

BOOK CLUB  The Invention of Wings
Monday, May 7, 2018 at 7:00 pm

The Finding Faith Through Fiction Book Club will meet at 7:00 pm on Monday, May 7 in the undercroft.   This month's selection has been changed to "The Invention of Wings"  by Sue Monk Kidd.

The book is the fictionalized history of the Grimké sisters, Sarah and Angelina (Nina), who were at the forefront of the abolitionist and women's rights movements, wound around the intriguing narrative of a young slave, Hetty, who was given to Sarah as an 11th birthday present. Sarah despises slavery, even at that early age, and out of principle attempts to reject the gift.
