Prayer Request

Father David Lynch +

There are lots of things going on in our parish!

The Organ Committee made its recommendation to the Vestry this past week regarding the selection of a new instrument for the parish.  We will be announcing a fund raising effort very soon and provide more details on the organ selection itself.  Sincere thanks and appreciation to the Committee for their hard work and quick recommendation.  The Committee was comprised of Vaughn Scarcliff, David Swant, Phil Clark, Debbie Lynch and Fr. Mark McGuire.
The combined service in the park with All Saints Lutheran last Sunday had over 65 people in attendance.  We had a great time together and wonderful food!  Watch for pictures soon in the gallery on our website.

A new Bible Study group is planned for evenings beginning in late summer or fall.  I have had several requests for a bible study group that could meet in the evening. Please consider the frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly). There will be a simple survey sheet in the narthex for your suggestions.

I'm also planning an alternative service for Sunday evenings at 5:30 pm.  We'll convene a working group soon to help plan the liturgy for this service. More to come as things progress.

The next CURSILLO weekend for our area is scheduled for September 20 - 23 at the Presbyterian retreat center in Parkville, MO.  More information will be out soon and I will be posting it in the church. I will be promoting this wonderful experience and personally plan to attend the event.

Blessing to all . . . enjoy your summer!

Please bring your gifts to church
This Sunday is the monthly in-gathering for the Necessity Pantry, a joint outreach ministry of the Episcopal Churches in eastern Jackson County and administered by St. Michael's parish in Independence.

Last month the Pantry assisted 194 families!  Specific needs this month include canned food (peas, corn and green beans), dish soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes, men and women's razors, Depends sizes S/M and L/XL and summer clothing.
Any monetary donation is also gratefully accepted.

Monday, July 2 at 7 pm
The Finding Faith through Fiction Book Club will meet on Monday, July 2 at 7 pm to discuss this month's selection is "The Secret Keeper" by Kate Morton.

During a picnic at her family's farm in the English countryside, sixteen-year-old Laurel Nicolson witnesses a shocking crime, a crime that challenges everything she knows about her adored mother, Dorothy. Now, fifty years later, Laurel and her sisters are meeting at the farm to celebrate Dorothy's ninetieth birthday. Realizing that this is her last chance to discover the truth about that long-ago day, Laurel searches for answers that can only be found in Dorothy's past. Clue by clue, she traces a secret history of three strangers from vastly different worlds thrown together in war-torn London-Dorothy, Vivien, and Jimmy-whose lives are forever after entwined. A gripping story of deception and passion, The Secret Keeper will keep you enthralled to the last page.
Photos to be taken on Sept. 7 and 8
We have contracted with Lifetouch to create a new pictorial directory for our parish!
Portraits will be taken on Friday, September 7 from 2 pm to 9 pm and on Saturday, September 8 from 10 am to 5 pm.
Each single/family will receive a free 8 x 10 portrait and a pictorial directory.  We want everyone's picture in our directory.  Save the date!!

Chicago We have 20 tickets for the 8 pm, Sunday, September 16 performance of the Broadway musical "Chicago".  The tickets are in Level 6 and cost $29 each.
Please sign-up in the narthex if you would like to go and make your payment to the Church for the tickets.
For others needing rides to Church
We have a few individuals who need a ride to/from Resurrection to attend a Sunday service and/or other event because they cannot drive or lack transportation.  We are looking for a few folks who may be willing to drive people to church on a case by case basis.
The idea would be to schedule rides in advance and match the geography of those needing rides with folks who have transportation that live in the same general area.  This is a much needed ministry that can make a big difference for those who are missing the fellowship of church and cannot afford a taxi or Uber type service.
If you are willing to participate in this ministry please contact Fr. David at the office 816:228:4220 or email rector@episcopal-bluesprings.org
