Prayer Request

Happy Labor Day
Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Tomorrow between services
Join us tomorrow, Sunday, September 2 between services for a Resurrection tradition of a free home cooked breakfast between church services beginning at 9:00 am.  We'll have pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon plus plenty of fluids.  Come for the fellowship and nutrition!

Remember tomorrow we'll also celebrate birthdays and anniversaries.  Don't miss if you are a September honoree!

Sunday, September 23 at 11:00 am Ecumenical Service
The churches of All Saints Lutheran, Chapel Hill Presbyterian, Good Shepherd United Church of Christ and First Christian will come together to celebrate in a service of Scripture, Praise and Holy Communion at 11:00 am on Sunday, September 23 at Shelter #3 in Lake Jacomo Park.
Bring a lawn chair or two, blanket and wear casual attire.  A POT LUCK MEAL WITH BBQ WILL BE SHARED BY ALL FOLLOWING THE SERVICE.
Resurrection will still hold its 8:00 am Rite I service at home in the Nave, however all parishioners encouraged to challenge their routines and come to this shared service.   We are asked to bring "side dishes" to share in the pot-luck meal. A flyer is on both bulletin boards with directions to Shelter #3.
Fr. David has a broken foot

Well, so much for being a good neighbor after the storm this last week. While cutting a large broken limb from a tree in my neighbor's yard, it fell square on my right foot fracturing two of the four long metatarsal bones!
Needless to say, I am quite frustrated with myself. I am in a stabilization boot for at least 6 weeks. This means I walk like a drunken sailor with a wooden leg. This little set back will cause me to change how I can do a few things during our services on Sundays. I ask for your prayers for healing, but most importantly I ask for your patience as I modify how we will receive communion at the altar. Here are some temporary changes until I can walk with more stability:
  • The Gospel will be read from the Altar and not down among the people
  • At communion, the kneeling rail will not be used.   The bread will be given by the priest standing in the middle of isle just in front of the kneeling rail. The Eucharistic Minister will provide the chalice to one side of the priest at the 8:00 am service and both sides of the priest at the 10:30 service.
Please be patient with me as I hobble into and out of the church. Giggling and laughing out loud will not be tolerated (ha ha!)
