Dr. Bill Stancil
ADULT FORUM THIS SUNDAY
With Dr. Bill Stancil beginning at 9:15 am

You are invited to participate in a special Adult Forum this Sunday, December 18, with Dr. Bill Stancil, Professor of Theology at Rockhurst University, beginning at 9:15 in the Undercroft, on
"Jesus Christ: Crucified, Buried, Resurrected, Ascended."

The center of the Christian faith is Jesus Christ.  Yet the question Jesus asked his disciples, "Who do you say I am?" continues to challenge us today.  Who is Jesus Christ for us?  What does the death of a 1st century Jew have to do with me, a 21st century person?   Explore these questions and others during this interesting Adult Forum.

Healihg Service
SERVICE OF HEALING AND EUCHARIST THIS SUNDAY
Both 8:00 and 10:30 am services

This coming Sunday we will celebrate Advent IV and also share in a service of healing. In this holy season, some folks are struggling with memories and situations that cause sadness and depression. This Sunday will be a time to lift up those, including ourselves, to Christ in prayer.

As we anticipate Christ's return and celebrate his Incarnation we are reminded of his tender mercy and compassion. The Litany of Healing and Eucharist are a time to allow the strength of God through prayer and anointing to come into our hearts, minds and bodies. May Christ continue to bless us in this season and always.

---------------
After four harrowing years on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne returns to Australia and takes a job as the lighthouse keeper on Janus Rock, nearly half a day's journey from the coast. To this isolated island, where the supply boat comes once a season, Tom brings a young, bold, and loving wife, Isabel. Years later, after two miscarriages and one stillbirth, the grieving Isabel hears a baby's cries on the wind. A boat has washed up onshore carrying a dead man and a living baby.

Tom, who keeps meticulous records and whose moral principles have withstood a horrific war, wants to report the man and infant immediately. But Isabel insists the baby is a "gift from God," and against Tom's judgment, they claim her as their own and name her Lucy. When she is two, Tom and Isabel return to the mainland and are reminded that there are other people in the world. Their choice has devastated one of them.
