Debbie and I will be gone visiting family in Michigan and enjoying the Great Lakes from July 9th through July 25th. We ask your prayers for a refreshing-rejuvenating time as we get a chance to visit our "homeland" and see family. Debbie will truly be ready for some time to recuperate after serving as the registrar for the American Guild of Organist National Convention happening in Kansas City this 4th of July week. Be good to Vaughn in the weeks to come as he has a major hospitality role in this same convention and will need to recuperate.
Please warmly welcome Fr. Mark McGuire (recently retired from St. Paul's- Lee's Summit) as he celebrates with you for the Sundays of July 15th and 22nd. Fr. Mark will also provide pastoral care to the parish in my absence. Should you need a visit, please contact him directly at 816-217-3386, or by contacting Sr. Warden John Biggs. The church cannot serve your needs if you don't contact us to be with you when you are wanting a priestly visit.
Much will take place while I am gone and I want you all to pay specific attention for the call to all parishioners to attend church on Sunday the 15th to hear a new organ instrument that is similar to the one recommended by the organ committee that was formed to find the best instrument to replace our current failing model. This will be a time to hear the instrument as well as to ask questions about the campaign to raise funds to purchase the best possible instrument we can afford to buy. Our prayers are to fund this campaign so that the next instrument can be built and installed before the end of the year.
I have left a sign-up sheet in the narthex requesting your feedback for a new evening bible study offering for an evening session. Once back and in August I hope to announce a new session for the evening based on your suggestions that can start later in August or September.
My prayers for our parish do not stop while on vacation. You will be in my thoughts each day!
Many thanks for your prayers and blessings.
