A MESSAGE FROM FR. LYNCH+
Fr. Lynch _

As we welcome the New Year and build our intentions for completing goals, new projects and trying to meet personal expectations, let us be reminded of patience and perseverance.

As we take on our hopes and dreams for the days and weeks to come, it is important to put in perspective the reality of our nature as human beings. God has created us with incredible abilities and one of the most important of those abilities is to make choices in our lives.

It is my sincerest prayer for all of us that we include our spirituality into our thought processes and decision making. Keeping Christ and the Holy Spirit not only in our hearts but especially in our minds will help to focus on Jesus' call to love God and our Neighbors.

The New Year always brings anticipation for wonderful accomplishments and opportunities. May we pursue realistic expectations that will positively affect our own lives and all the lives around us.

Direct us, O Lord, in all our doings with your most gracious
favor, and further us with your continual help; that in all our
works begun, continued, and ended in you, we may glorify
your holy Name, and finally, by your mercy, obtain everlasting
life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

FINDING FAITH THROUGH FICTION BOOK CLUB
Northanger Abbey
This Monday at 7 pm

The
Finding Faith through Fiction Book Club
will meet next on  Monday, January 7 at 7 pm in the undercroft at the Church.  This month's
reading is Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen.

When Catherine is invited to Northanger Abbey, the grand though forbidding ancestral seat of her suitor, Henry Tilney, she finds herself embroiled in a real drama of misapprehension, mistreatment, and mortification, until common sense and humor-and a crucial clarification of Catherine's financial status-puts all to right.
Holy Fools

Written in 1798 but not published until after Austen's death in 1817,  Northanger Abbey is characteristically clear-headed and strong, and infinitely subtle in its comedy.

Plan ahead:  February's selection will be Holy Fools by Joanne Harris (she also wrote Chocolat!).
