Our Mission:
Grow in God's grace. Love with all our heart. Serve with all our strength.
A Word from
Pastor Sumesh and Pastor Beth
Dear Friends in Christ,
This Sunday we begin a new Sermon Series called Life in the Vine. This series is based on the theme for the 2021 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. It is based on John 15:1-17 where Jesus refers to himself as the Vine and his disciples as the branches meant to bear fruit to bring glory to the Father. Jesus gave the picture of the Vine to describe his life with his disciples and their lives in relation to each other. We begin this Sunday by focusing on Jesus welcoming us all to share in relationship with him and in his Kingdom work of love and compassion and in turn to welcome others to it and welcome true friendship with all who love Jesus. Please join us this summer in worship either in-person in the Ministry Center or live-streamed on the church Facebook page at the 9.30 am Blended Service as we discover what it means to be alive in Christ and to bear fruit that will last.

Plans are being made for a very special July 4th celebration! We will gather for worship at The Sound in Cypress Waters (the same place we met for our Easter Service) at 9 am followed by a time for breakfast together and then the Patriotic Pops led by the Music Ministry of our church. Please make plans to join us for this special time. We will not be having the 8 am Rise Up Service and the One-Room Schoolhouse that day.
Our gathered time of Sunday learning during summer is on for 6th Grade to adults joining us in-person for worship and are not meeting in their Learning Groups or are new to our church. The One-Room Schoolhouse will be held from 10:45 to 11:30 am after the Blended Service in the Ministry Center. This is an opportunity to dig deeper into the Scripture and the sermon preached on it that day. We request you to please pregister (link here) so that the required arrangements can be made for those attending. For children Pre-K there will be nursery care provided and K-5th Grade will meet with Ms Kathy Braem in the Ministry Center Patio.
We look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday!

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Sumesh and Pastor Beth
P.S. For the first time in over a year, the United Methodist Men will gather for breakfast on Saturday, June 19th at 8 am on the Ministry Center Patio.
P.P.S. Continue to be in prayer for our children this week as they explore Adventure Island in Vacation Bible School. Also be in prayer for our students on their mission trip this week with the UM Army.

Mission of the Month

June’s mission of the month is Christian Community Action (CCA) Back to School Initiative. This program will give children backpacks, school supplies, 2 school outfits, and shoes. This year families will be served in the following schools: Lewisville ISD, Coppell ISD, Carrollton/Farmers Branch ISD (Denton County portion), Argyle ISD, Frisco ISD (Denton County portion), Lake Dallas ISD, Little Elm ISD, Northwest ISD (Denton County portion).
Please consider a financial contribution. We can make financial donations go much further purchasing the needed items. The program costs $100 per student and CCA’s goal is to serve 1,200 students this fall. Help make this mission possible so that no child goes to school and not have the tools needed for a successful learning year! Click here to give online and select Mission of the Month for the fund, make checks payable to FUMC with memo “CCA” or you can TEXT 2 GIVE. Text FUMCC to 73256. You will receive a link and simply follow the instructions.)
Project Transformation Volunteers Needed
Project Transformation (PT) is a ministry of the United Methodist Church, which provides both after-school and summer programs in underserved communities. FUMC Coppell participates in PT as a partner church by committing volunteer, financial, and spiritual resources. This year we will provide volunteers each day for two weeks of virtual reading one-on-one with children at Chapel Hill UMC. Financially, we will sponsor an intern, and provide dinners for interns. Spiritually, we will join with other partner churches to pray for PT’s ministry.
FUMC Coppell will be virtually volunteering through Zoom the weeks of June 21-24 and June 28-July 1, 9:45 am - 12 noon each day. We need 5-7 volunteers for each day, Monday through Thursday. These can be the same or different volunteers each day which means you can sign up for as few as 1 day or as many as 8 days. All virtual volunteers must be 16 years of age or older, or 13-15 years old with a parent or guardian present during their volunteer shift.

Please signup using the GivePulse link below using the code “Coppell” when signing up. You will receive a confirmation email that includes a detailed volunteer orientation video. You must watch this video for detailed instructions on how to read virtually through Zoom using online books!
All volunteers over the age of 18 are required to have completed Ministry Safe training within the past two years. Once you have signed up and if your Ministry Safe training has expired, Kathy Baker will send you a link to Ministry Safe that must be completed by June 14th
The weekend before volunteering, volunteers will receive an individualized email from the volunteer coordinator at Chapel Hill UMC. This email will include the Zoom link for that site, the Google Drive folder for each child they will be reading with that includes the appropriate e-books, and a Google Form for them to complete after they have completed their volunteer shift. Please connect on Zoom at least 5 minutes early.
Sack Summer Hunger

We are excited to announce that Coppell Cares will be partnering with Coppell ISD for Sack Summer Hunger this summer. This program will provide CISD students or non-CISD children 18 and under with FREE meals through the summer. These are children and families who live in the Coppell school district (Coppell, south Lewisville, west Carrollton, Valley Ranch and North Irving). In the summer of 2020, we served 409 children from 181 families over 12 weeks.
Every Saturday morning from late May to August, volunteers will deliver a sack of food and a gallon of milk for each child to their family’s door. We will meet in the cafeteria parking lot at Austin Elementary School at 8:45 am in order to pickup food prepared by CISD. Each route will take approximately 60-90 minutes to complete.
