It was indeed a magnificent concert and we will look forward to Mark's return in the fall when he will accompany a silent film! You won't want to miss it!

Christ's Cupboard
I'm back! After a 15-day European hiatus, I'm ready to help us start filling the shelves of Christ's Cupboard once again. Per suggestions from Samaritan Love Center, the following items are most needed: canned pastas, pasta and pasta sauce, boxed pasta (mac and cheese), peanut butter, cereals, pancake mix and syrup, soups, hygiene items, soaps of all kinds and TOILET TISSUE.

My main contact person at Samaritan Love Center for many years who also became a dear friend, Carolyn Browning, recently died but her daughter and other devoted church members will carry on in her memory as the community is in great need for pantries. The new team sent the following note after emptying our shelves soon after Charolyn's passing: "Thank you very much for 544 pounds. Thank you for your generosity and your dedication to our food pantry."

New Communion Procedure
Communion at Christ Lutheran Church

Please know that if you feel called to share in communion with us you are welcome to do so! You may also come forward for a blessing by coming to the altar as described below and crossing your arms across your chest.

When the time comes, the choir will come forward down the center aisle. You can follow someone easily. When you reach the altar, pick up a small glass from the tray. Non-alcoholic wine is already poured and is located in the center of the tray. Proceed to the side that corresponds to the side of the church where you have been sitting (e.g. if you sat on the right side of the center aisle, go to the right side of the altar). You may stand or kneel as you prefer.

You can hold out your hands, palm up, to receive the wafer. The wafers are gluten-free. A second person will come to give you wine.

You may choose to receive communion in the form of the bread only; this is considered not only valid but also a full and complete participation in communion.

When you finish, you exit on the side where you took communion (e.g. to the right if you are on the right of the altar). Please put your glass in the tray which is located to the side of the first row of pews. Continue down the side aisle and then return to your seat.

Thank you for worshipping with us, and may the presence of Jesus in the bread and wine remain in your heart and soul until you return to worship with us again!
Synod Assembly 2022
Synod Assembly will be held Thursday, June 9, through Saturday, June 11. The assembly will be in-person this year and will take place at the Horizon Convention Center in Muncie. Elaine Newman and Dan Macaluso will serve as representatives from CLC. We thank them for being delegates and for their service to the larger Church! This year's Synod Assembly includes the election of the Bishop for the next 6-year term.

In case you are unaware, Dee Ann Daniels serves on the Synod Council and represents the Lafayette Conference. Thank you, Dee Ann, for your service!
Bible Study
We will resume the Wednesday Bible Study on May 3. We will be doing an interactive Bible study on The Chosen. The Chosen is a streaming television series about the life of
Jesus. Each session works in tandem with an episode from the show, bringing the Old and New Testaments to life in a fresh way. I have purchased the CDs and we will watch the pertinent episode and then follow the discussion guide. The first week will be spent going through the introduction and meeting the main characters. We will end each session with a “Prayer Focus” as well as “Further Study” suggestions that can be used throughout the week to go even deeper into Scripture. Each lesson features ten questions that will take you from an introductory level to an exploratory level, to an engagement level, to an application level. Everyone is welcome! Come ready to learn and discuss.

The Bible Study is held in the David/Goliath Rooms from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
NEW Online Bible Study
NEW Online Bible Study at CLC!!

At a recent Council meeting during our discussion of the book ‘Becoming A Hybrid Church,’ we talked about different ways to reach out to others in the church and in our community. One of those ways was to start an online Bible study in the evenings. Starting on Wednesday, May 4 at 7:00 pm, I will host an online Bible study for those who are working during the day or can’t make a daytime Bible study. We will be using Zoom and sharing videos from the site “The Work of the People.” We will watch the video together and then have a discussion about the video. The first topic we will be discussing is Spirituality. The sessions should last about an hour. We will start promptly at 7:00. Everyone is welcome-come prepared to watch, listen, and share! You can sign on to your Zoom ‘join a meeting tab’ using 765 427 4618 starting at around 6:50. You will go into a waiting room and I will let you into the group. Hope to see you there!!!
God's Peace,
Pastor Sharon Walker
New Furnace
Christ Lutheran Church has an opportunity to become more energy-efficient and environmentally conscious. One of our furnaces (one of eight) was purchased in 1994 and is reaching the end of its useful life. It’s time to start thinking about replacing it with a more energy efficient furnace before the old one breaks down.

As a result of the energy audit that was recently performed at Christ, we have an opportunity to apply for a grant (Indiana Thriving Faith Communities Decarbonization Grant) to offset the cost by up to 25%. We have a bid for a replacement furnace that is $11,637.88. That means that the grant would cover $2,909.47 of the cost. The congregation would be responsible for the remaining $8,728.41. The new furnace must be installed by November 1. Considering the condition of the supply chain, we need to get started on this now in order to meet the deadline.

To qualify for the grant, the congregation needs to pledge that they have access to the money  to complete the payment for the furnace. The church council has agreed to pledge our $10,000 CD. If we cash in the CD, it will involve a penalty for withdrawing it before the contracted time is over. However, the council would like to solicit pledges from the congregation in the hope that we do not have to cash in the CD. We believe that this is doable. We will be collecting funding until June 1.

Mission Trip
Nick Anders, one of our Choral Scholars, is planning to go on a mission trip this summer! In order to be able to attend this trip, financial support is needed. If you would like to help support this trip, please mark "Mission Trip" on your check or envelope and place it in the offering plate no later than May 15. You may also mail your gift to the church. This request has been endorsed by the Church Council.

Here is some more information on this trip:

"My name is Nick Anders. I am a freshman at Indiana University Kokomo studying Marketing with a focus on sales. My first year of college has been filled with many blessings and challenges. Between school, work, and sports, my life has been quite busy. In the midst of all the craziness of life, it is easy to get distracted from what truly matters - my relationship with Christ. I have joined many clubs, but my favorite club to be a part of is called Cru. Cru is a Christian organization with the sole purpose of bringing people closer to Christ and spreading the gospel to as many people as we can, not just around campus but throughout our lives.

This summer, I will be going with Cru to Daytona Beach for my first-ever mission trip! While there, I will be learning from God's Word through discipleship and Bible studies. Each day, we will have training sessions on leadership development, personal development, evangelism, and discipleship. The afternoons will involve outreach, small groups, and fellowship with those around us!

I would greatly appreciate your prayer support throughout this trip. Ways you can pray for us include safety as we travel to and from Daytona, willingness to listen and obey the Spirit while we minister to those around us, and unity and kindness to be exhibited in our lives to allow for better fellowship and ministry to others. I also ask you to pray for my own individual growth in faith and strength as I walk with the Lord.

In order to prepare for this trip, I wanted to invite you to partner with me through both prayer and financial support. Your financial support will directly enable me to attend this summer mission trip. Would you prayerfully consider joining my support team with a gift of $100, $200, or some other amount significant to you as I try to reach my goal of $2,450?"

Thank you,
Nicholas Anders
Care for Creation
We’re celebrating Earth Sunday, but not this Sunday. We’ll combine Earth Sunday with the dedication of our solar panels, hopefully happening at the end of May. The extra rain has delayed the trenching under the driveway which is needed to complete the wiring. So, as is true with other construction, we must be patient. And while being patient, we welcome your suggestions to make memorable this special Earth Sunday/Solar Panel Dedication Day.
