at Piney Grove Baptist Church

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR BREAKFAST.


The Piney Grove Baptist Men are sponsoring this community event. Former Sheriff, Donnie Harrison, will be our special guest on Saturday, August 20th at Piney Grove Baptist Church- Student Building (Lower Parking Lot). He will be sharing his testimony and about how his Christian faith has and continues to guide him in his professional career. Everyone in the community is invited to attend. Doors will open at 8:00 am for breakfast and then, Sheriff Harrison will speak at 9:00 am.  Breakfast is $7 per person and includes sausage, bacon, eggs, grits, hashbrowns, biscuits, fresh fruit, and beverages. 


This is a community event so invite your friends and neighbors!

October 27-30th


Registration going on now!

TLC is Piney Grove's tri-annual, 4-day, churchwide ministry event that impacts our entire congregation and community.


Everyone in our church from the oldest to the youngest will come together as one body in Christ to serve our community. It's going to be HUGE and NOW is the time to begin signing up for the area(s) where you will serve.


The event includes meals, worship, devotions, prayer, testimonies, a special Keynote speaker, and most of all MISSION PROJECTS!


There will be projects for EVERY age and ability. Even if you cannot serve on both project workdays, you can still be involved.

Register everyone in your family and let us know when you can participate and what areas you are interested in serving. As we get closer to the event, team leaders will contact you with details.

WE'RE GOING DIGITAL!

Grade school Kids Worship will no longer be using punch cards! We are going digital and using Class Credits. Some examples of how your child can earn credits to spend in the PG Kids Store are as follows:


1 credit        Attending Kids Worship

1 credit        Answering Bible Story Questions

2 credits       Reciting Bible Verses (1 verse up to 5 times)

5 credits       Bringing Your Own Bible

5 credits       Bringing A Friend

5 credits       Reciting Fruits of the Spirit (up to 3 times)

5 credits       Telling the difference between a tithe and an offering (up to 3 times)

10 credits      Reciting the Lord’s Prayer (up to 3 times)

10 credits      Telling how to become a Christian (up to 3 times)

10 credits      Explaining the purpose of Baptism (up to 3 times)

10 credits      Explaining the Lord’s Supper (up to 3 times)

20 credits      Books of the Bible (up to 3 times with NO mistakes)

*Visitors earn 5 points on first visit

RISING 7th GRADERS

August 21, 2022 is Promotion Sunday and your new 7th graders are moving up to the youth group! This is an exciting time for your new youth and we want to make the transition as smooth as possible. 


Upcoming Dates for Rising 7th Graders:


  • AUG 7- 9:45 am  Lisa Sellers will be taking the new upcoming youth to the Student Building to have a transitional Sunday School class with the youth group
  • AUG 14- DEADLINE to Sign-Up for Youth Beach Retreat (Sept 2-4)
  • AUG 17- YUKFEST (6:30-8:00 pm) at PGBC
  • AUG 21- Promotion Sunday- 7th Graders officially move up to Youth

IT'S TIME TO MOVE UP!

SUNDAY, AUGUST 21st

is PROMOTION SUNDAY

Promotion Sunday is for all nursery, preschool, and grade school children. Each child will get to move up to their next age or grade class. This starts at the nursery level. There are 9:45 am Sunday School classes for each age group. Preschool kids worship at 11:00 am is for ages 3-5 and grade school worship is for those in 1st grade through 6th grade. Rising 7th graders become a youth! In addition, Mission Friends starting in September begin at age 3 and 1st graders go into GA’s or RA’s. It’s an exciting time and provides new and fresh experiences!

SHEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE! That is the name of the musical the kids will be presenting December 2nd and 3rd, 2022 at 6 pm.  Rehearsals will be held on Wednesdays beginning September 7, 2022 at 5:55 pm. Kids will be released in time to attend mission groups. All rehearsals are on Wednesdays leading up to the musical and include two scheduled mandatory rehearsals on Sundays, November 13th and 27th.

GIFT CARD COLLECTION

FOR OXFORD CHILDREN'S HOME


The JOY Group will be hosting David & Robbie Sneed on Thursday, Sept. 8th at their monthly meeting. They will be collecting gift cards for them to use in their ministry at the Oxford Children’s Home. If you'd like to make a donation toward their ministry you can purchase a gift card at (Target, Walmart, or a Visa gift card) and give it to Pastor Mike or the church office. If you'd like to make a cash or check donation, then make your check payable to Piney Grove Baptist and note Oxford Children’s Home on the memo line and envelope. You can also give online instead of buying a gift card.

GARDEN OF EATEN 

Anyone is welcome to come and help in the garden. The team picks produce on Saturday mornings at 8:30 am and on Wednesdays at 9 am. There are also other ways to help with watering and other tasks throughout the week. Contact Valerie Macon (919.819.0333) to get involved. Hope to see you in the garden.
