On Wednesday the Memory Cafe participants brought in their hobby for show-and-tell. As a retired engineer, Walt's one hobby includes sailboats. He brought in an impressive sailboat from his collection. This is open to anyone who has a cognitive impairment and their loved ones.

Next month the Memory Cafe group will meet on Wednesday, March 13th at 1 pm to complete a community service project of filling Easter eggs for local Easter egg hunts. Parking

We would like to address a growing concern within our Windy Hill community regarding parking-related issues. We are committed to finding solutions to the issues during our building renovation project.

Until we get to that point, here are some key points we'd like to share:

  1. Parking Etiquette: We kindly remind all members to adhere to parking guidelines and be considerate of others. Please park in designated areas and avoid parking in the fire lane, in the coned off section reserved for Parks & Rec parent pick-up/drop-off, and the grass areas. If damage is caused to the grass, you will be responsible for paying to have this repaired.
  2. Overflow Parking Options: We do have an overflow parking lot located across from the tennis courts on Rocket Drive. This ensures sufficient parking for everyone. If you have a disability that prevents you from walking that far, please call the center upon arrival and a staff member will park your car for you.
  3. Carpooling: We do encourage carpooling to optimize parking space availability. If you have neighbors who frequent the center, please consider riding together if you are able.
  4. RabbitTransit: The Rabbit offers door-to-door service to those 65+ free of charge. Reach out to Nancy at our front desk for more information.

We understand the frustration that parking issues can cause and want to assure you that we are actively addressing this matter with the building redesign project. Your cooperation with the above points is crucial in maintaining a safe, community environment.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Policy on Visitors

We understand that some of our members serve as caretakers of their grandchildren, however, we need to keep in mind that we are a senior center for active, independent older adults ages 60+ and spouses of those 60+.

Our member handbook states that "children are to be permitted to visit the center for specific intergenerational programs and under controlled conditions, as scheduled and approved by the staff. Prior permission must be obtained before bringing a child to the center". On special occasions we may permit a child to visit the center, but this is not a daily occurrence.

Center Hours

Windy Hill staff has been experiencing some issues with members trying to come into the center prior to our start time of 8:30 am and staying past our closing time of 2:30 pm. Due to safety concerns with having less staffing before 8:30 am and after 2:30 pm, and in order for our staff to be productive when members aren't in the building, we will no longer be allowing members to enter the building before 8:30 am* and all members

must leave the building no later than 2:30 pm.

*Tuesdays and Thursdays Silver Sneakers participants will be allowed to enter the building for their 8 am class. Thank you for your understanding.

Procedure for Inclement Weather

In the event of inclement weather Windy Hill will make a decision by 5:30 am, the morning of, whether or not we will be operating. If the decision is made to cancel operation for the day, a message will be located on our phone greeting and also on our Facebook page. In the case of closure, that day’s meal will no longer be available. We do have frozen meals available that can be used as emergency meals in the case of closure. If you’re interested, please request these meals.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for (audience)? Why should they care (benefit)? What do I want them to do (call-to-action)?

Create a great offer by adding words like "free," "personalized," "complimentary," or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take action, so consider inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
