This week I challenge you to ask at least one other parishioner the story of their particular name to get to know and love one another better and  to celebrate that in God's eyes and through the waters of baptism we also all share the name Beloved.

2017 Annual Fund Update

As of Tuesday, December 27, 314pledges totaling $840,830 have been received toward our $975,000 goal. The Annual Fund leadership and Vestry are grateful for each pledge received and seeks 100% participation from all member households. To pledge online, visit www.st-peters.org/annualfund, or you may pledge at the Parish House. Our total amount pledged and the 2017 pledgers' list continue to grow for the completion of a 2017 operating budget being drafted by the Finance Committee and approved by the Vestry.

Sunday Formation for Adults, Youth and Children and Holy Chow Breakfast will be suspended on January 1 and resume on January 8. Watch the eNews, service leaflet notices, website, and bulletin boards in the Parish House lobby for what's in store for Winter - Spring 2017 Formation Offerings. The Parish Hall Forum on January 8 will feature an "instructed Baptism," in which we'll talk through the Baptism liturgy.

The Feast of Epiphany and the Burning of the Greens: On Friday, January 6, after the Twelfth Day of Christmas, all are invited to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany with Holy Eucharist and Burning of the Greens at 6:00 p.m. Families with children, in particular, have enjoyed this special feast.
 
Weekday Morning Prayer and Noon Eucharist Holiday Schedule. Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Morning Prayer in the Chapel of the Saints is a beautiful offering for the start of the day. Spread the word that this liturgy of The Book of Common Prayer will not be offered December 26 - 28 and January 2. Our Tuesday Noon Eucharist, which also draws parishioners and visitors alike, will not be offered on December 27. All are most welcome and encouraged to bring guests to join them for any and all of these weekday offerings.
   
Supporting Center City Concerts. The Board of Directors for this non-profit organization based at St. Peter's is seeking donations to support the offering of "free" concerts at St. Peter's. Leave-taking Reception for The Reverend Joslyn Ogden Schaefer, Sunday, January 8. A reception to honor the ministry of The Reverend Joslyn Ogden Schaefer will take place Sunday, January 8 after the 10:45 a.m. liturgy. If you would like to offer a financial gift in thanksgiving for her ministry and fill a "purse" her journey, checks should be made payable to "St. Peter's Church" (Memo: Associate Rector's Ministry). Parish Intern to Serve at St. Peter's in 2017. Beginning the week of January 1, Mrs. Robin Sands will become a part of the parish family as part of the 10-month internship required for the diocesan ordination process for Vocational Deacons. As Parish Intern, Robin will collaborate with the Parish Clergy to learn, support, and serve in ministry areas, such as liturgy, pastoral care, outreach, social justice, and congregational development, and be among us on a weekly basis. Stay tuned for more from the Rector about Robin and her family, who are active members of St. John's Episcopal Church in Charlotte.
 
Associate Rector Search Advisory Circle Appointed. The Rector has appointed Carolyn Carlburg, Sue Coonen, Phyllis Ferguson, Irma Hoffman, Des Keller, Paul Keller, Ann Luszcz, Bert Miano, Cooper Morrison, and Dan Moore to assist his process of calling the next Associate Rector after the leave-taking of the Reverend Joslyn Ogden Schafer in January.
